Re: Another great day at Keystone
The candy-stripes are getting harder to find. I suspect they are transitory at that site, because until a few weeks ago I'd never heard of them being there before ... nor being found on painted anemones. I've been up there a few times in the two months since they were initially reported, and it seem...

Another great day at Keystone
It got mobbed yesterday ... to the point where parking spaces were getting hard for some folks to find. Fortunately I got there early (6 am ferry) and was in the water for my first dive (91 minutes, solo) by 7:15. Did a second dive with Myra during the second slack. Vis was typical Keystone ... abou...

I interviewed for both the show and the trailer. Don't know if any of my interview actually made the cut, but in any case I won't be around to find out ... I'll be in the Philippines when it airs.

Point Hudson on Monday?
Looking at the tides for Monday (Memorial Day) I'm thinking to head up to Port Townsend. Haven't been up there in a while, and I recall some rumors about them closing down the Pt. Hudson dive site for some kind of work on the jetty. Has that happened? Or is the dive site still open? Wanting to get s...

Peter's wife is Cathy, and they only provide diving ops for the people staying at their lodge. As Richard noted, Rendezvous is a long way from Ucluelet. There used to be a dive shop in Tofino. I imagine they closed due to a lack of business in the area. Several years ago some of my friends went divi...

Re: Titan Miss Silo Dive
Doubles are not an optimal choice for this dive. First off, because you don't need them ... you're never going to use that much gas, and you always have direct access to the surface. Second, you have to get them down and back up through that little tube of an entry. And finally, because you have to ...

It's an interesting dive ... one of those checklist things. It's a good thing to plan on a week-end when the tides are too huge for most local dives.

Re: Edmonds UP 5/01/16
Opening day of ling season always brings with it a certain level of stupid. I've seen fishing boats literally tied up to the boundary buoys at EUP, and in some cases casting into the park because they know there's big lings in there. Yesterday we had a few out on the jetty at Keystone casting into t...

Agree with Richard ... if you can't pull & glide, then float & ride ... you're priority at that point is to get to the surface, not necessarily your point of entry ...

Re: Strongest currents
Maldives channel dives ... you "hot drop" into a 3-5 knot current, going in negative so that you sink right away, and you're exiting the boat literally on the heels of the person in front of you. You get swept along a wall like you're watching a movie in fast forward ... and if you want to...

Hello fellow south sounder divers ... Wondering if any of y'all would be around and available to help me move something heavy tomorrow? This board's another nice place to meet divers ... there are regularly scheduled dives both north and south...
