Re: Proposal: eliminate login requirement on email links

I will check out the demo, if there is one. I am generally really skeptical of mobile-"enhanced" products, they are often stinkers.

Re: Proposal: eliminate login requirement on email links

That's nuts. I use a lot of other forums and none of them require a login to follow the "new post" link in email. None of them use the data in the link to log you in automatically, either. That's inherently unsafe and it also isn't required just to show you a new post. The "new post&q...

Re: Proposal: eliminate login requirement on email links

Interesting, I wonder why they would build it that way? Well, thanks for looking.

Never used Tapatalk, I'm cheap. Also, on my usual tablet the display is big enough that I just use a desktop-style browser interface.

Re: Proposal: eliminate login requirement on email links

I have cookies all over, but they get stale, and browser auto-login timesavers etc. don't always work. I've used the board for years across several browsers and despite all those features, I still have to log in often enough that it's annoying. Or, what about when you are on a public machine of some...

Proposal: eliminate login requirement on email links

The content on the board is visible to the public... but when the system emails me about a new post in a thread, it requires me to log in before viewing the post. It can be a little inconvenient at times. How about turning that option off, so we can follow the new post links in email more easily? It...

Re: Deception Pass Video

Great video, a real eye-opener. I had no idea the pass looked like that under water... And the current looked intense! Some spots churned like a washing machine. What's a typical dive profile like?

We already did, went to Redondo a few days before our trip. The new suit stayed dry. :)

Cenote dive video

https://vimeo.com/70496430 Last week we went to the cenote Angelita, near Tulum. Here's a video of the dive, which is probably 7 minutes longer than it needs to be. The video is pretty terrible... I don't like working with video, but I wanted something to remember the trip by because my memory sucks...

Re: Viz Reports Thread

7/7 Redondo -- 5-10 ft vis all the way down to 50 ft, which was as deep as we went due to the extremely low tide. Pea soup with snot... worst vis I have personally seen.

Later this week I expect 100+ ft vis in a cenote. :)

Re: Anybody have, or know where to get, webbing clips?

I normally use them to keep stuff from sliding past a certain point on webbing. For example, I have one on my right-side belt to keep my can from sliding allll the way back to the plate. If I put a pouch on my belt, I normally sandwich it between two of the clips to keep it from wandering. They are ...

Re: Anybody have, or know where to get, webbing clips?

Thanks, renoun. I think I've got a source lined up now, but it will be good to know if Seattle Fabrics does have them. I know DGE has them, the problem is shipping delay (and cost). I'm still flabbergasted that no Seattle shops have them. I am pretty sure the half dozen I have now all came from arou...

Re: Anybody have, or know where to get, webbing clips?

OK, I have now called every store in the Seattle area. Those who knew what I was talking about didn't carry them. *#@()! I had no idea these things were so rare. So, if you have any spares you're willing to part with, drop me a line. I'm not going to die without them, but they do make some things ve...

Anybody have, or know where to get, webbing clips?

I need a few of these clips that snap onto webbing. I made the error of believing I'd be able to walk into my local scuba retailer and purchase them. One place didn't have them. The other place didn't even know what I was talking about. ಠ_ಠ Obviously I can order them, but I have a trip coming up and...

Trimming seals, stumbled on a tip...

I was trimming the seals on Jen's new suit and I accidentally learned something that will make the job a lot easier next time. This may be old news, but just in case... You turn the seal inside out and stretch it over something, then cut carefully with a new razor blade, right? Nothing new there. Bu...

Re: LED vs HID

IMHO the only reason to get HID over LED is that you love the adjustable focus that some HIDs have. I DO love the adjustable focus on my Salvo HID, but man, I think I could get used to longer run times, brighter light, varying power levels, a smaller head and canister, etc etc. I'm really interested...

I wouldn't buy a rebreather from 40 years in the future much less one from 40 years ago. :)
