Re: Three Tree 9-10-17 Awesome vis
Olympus E-M5mkII in a Nauticam Housing. I think it's just a general problem of a dome port in the sun.

Re: Three Tree 9-10-17 Awesome vis
I'm just glad I brought 2 tanks with me. I would have been upset to only do one dive when the visibility was this good. I did find out an issue that I hadn't had a problem with before: With the good visibility, enough sunlight came into the port to cause a reflection of the front of the lens with th...

Three Tree 9-10-17 Awesome vis
Did 2 tanks today at 3T. Easily the best visibility all summer that I've seen, and probably #2 that I've seen in the sound between last year and this year. Probably 40ft at depth, and you could look up and see the surface from 55ft. Explored a little further than I've been before, going deeper than ...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Both the first and second dive at Three Tree today I was able to see the surface from 55ft down. Obviously less when looking to the side, but still pretty darn good.theonly_JT wrote:Three Tree 9/10 seemed like a solid 40ft. Dropped to 25ft+ for the second dive.

Basic Cressi BCD and Depth/SPG Console $40/$50
Switched out to a backplate and a smaller SPG, so my old gear is just sitting around not being used. BCD is a mens size medium. Good for someone starting out who doesn't want to spend a lot. Everything still works perfectly on both, no leaks. $40 for the console, $50 for the BCD. $80 for both. IMG_1...

Also forgot to add in items I'd take in trade/partial trade at the top.

Re: FS: Otter Commerical Classic Drysuit $250
Sure thing. For anyone interested, since I couldn't verify whether or not it leaks, if you want to test it out, I'm fine with you doing a dive with me to be sure. Doing 2 dives at 3 Tree this Sunday, probably the ThThTh next week, and I can probably dive whenever else works (doing a trip to Guadalup...

Re: Diving Hawaii Big Island
For dive ops, the only one I used was Big Island Divers. Was incredibly happy with them. I accidentally left my mask on the boat and they found it months later and sent it out to me.

Re: Diving Hawaii Big Island
When I was there I didn't see a ton of nudis. A couple on a boat dive. Two-step is a popular shore diving site. We did 2 tanks there. Heading right from the entry is better than going straight out. Go early in the morning though. It's mobbed with snorkelers late morning/early afternoon and parking i...

Re: ThThTh 8/17
I got no useful photos at all this week. Too much crappy vis and not long enough strobe arms. Loads of crap in the water. Here's one from the first dive we did. Not a good test day for new equipment.

Re: seattle area dive question
How about 3 tree in Burien? Usually better visibility and diveable in most tides. Usually it's not terribly crowded, but there's only a handful of parking spots there. If you have to, you can drop off gear and then park on the main road. Here's a dive map. Go to the right when you get in the water. ...

I could potentially be there as early as 4:30-5. Not sure when you were wanting to get in an earlier dive, but I've got 2 tanks with me today.

Re: Dive light
The DGX 600 is one of the best compact LED dive lights out there. The beam has the best focus I've seen from an LED light, and does a good job cutting through murky water.. It will run for an hour or more with a good 18650 li-ion battery. At $55 a piece, you can buy two and stash the second one on ...

Re: Keystone Friday Night 8/18
Apparently my times were off. Interesting. 4:30pm is high tide. Will try and make that one. Should theoretically be able to. Not a new camera, just a new port so I can move away from macro stuff and do wide angle. Also have a new strobe coming in since I sold off the older one. I know tides aren't t...

Keystone Friday Night 8/18
I'll be in Anacortes for work on Friday and I've got some new camera gear coming in this week so I'd like to take advantage and get a couple dives in at Keystone. Looks like tides are a small exchange (~2ft) between 3:47pm which I may be able to make and 8:25pm which I definitely will be able to make.

There was a couple on Rockaway (Bainbridge Island) earlier this week. Haven't really seen many others though.
