Re: Sund Rock
The Red Brotula seem to have moved on. Didn't see them on 2 dives on the north wall on Saturday (and I got in the water first so they hadn't been scared off by all the lights yet) and they weren't there today. Maybe they moved back to Fish Pen Wall?

Man! I finally make it to a club dive and I'm in the water when the group photo was taken. Bummer! Oh well, great day, great dives, great divers! Thanks everyone.

Re: WEEKDAY DIVE BUDDY NEEDED!!
There is also a bunch of us from the Portland/Vancouver area that often come up to dive either Hood Canal or a south sound site on Wednesdays (not this one-everyone but me seems to be out of town). You're welcome to join us sometime if that will work for you. We generally meet at 9am and get 2 dives...

I can't get a very good image of it but I'd say a Northern Clingfish or one of the Snailfish.

Re: Back to TTN
The octo on eggs at Three Tree is under the golf ball boat, not under the cabin cruiser. There are actually 2 GPO's under the golf ball boat. The one under the bow (downslope) is the one on eggs.

I hesitate to say it, but I may be able to make this one. I'm off work all that week and have a home project to do but should be able to get away to dive that day. Fingers crossed!

Re: Three Tree Map Needed
There may be a map on pnwscuba.com but that may be one of the places you've tried. But it's easy to find the cabin cruiser. Surface swim out to the first buoy to the south of the entry. Drop down and take a diagonal heading going sw down to about 65', then swim straight south. It always seems like i...

Re: Costa Rica Feb 2015 Trip
I've only heard good things about Rocket Frog (we dove with Deep Blue Diving when we were there so I have no firsthand experience with them) but when I read that a DM distressed a Puffer Fish like that, they are forever on the "don't use them" list as far as I'm concerned. Just my opinion,...

Re: GPO on Eggs at TTN
We saw this GPO last week and it is under the downslope end of the golf ball boat. There's a second GPO under the other end. John Hall & I saw a GPO on eggs in one of the deeper tire piles straight out from the entry a year or two ago. Also saw 4 Decorated Warbonnets in close proximity to each o...

I have 3 Suuntos, a Cobra, a Vyper2, and a Mosquito. The newest one is about 6 years old and the oldest was my first computer 13 years ago. All doing fine. No major service, just maintenance. I'm a fan.

Re: Red Brotula: sund rock
I saw 2 on the north wall a couple of weeks ago. Was very excited to see them there as I've only seen them on Fish Pen wall at Sund Rock before and I'm not crazy about that particular profile. They were quite shy and never got a good photo. I tried for a photo for awhile but when I finally had a goo...

Re: Feb trip to Costa Rica
I was there in March a couple of years ago and the water was much cooler than they led us to believe it was going to be. By the end of the trip, everyone had added at least another 2 or 3mm suit over the 3 or 5mm that they already had on. Just be prepared. If I was going to go back, I would seriousl...

Re: Blue whales off the Oregon Coast
Wow! I can't believe it! We just spent 3 full days on the Oregon Coast in an ocean front room, traveled from Lincoln City down thru Depoe Bay stopping there on both the way down and the way up to Newport to look for whales. And saw none! I don't think I've ever been through Depoe Bay without seeing ...

Re: Sund Rock - 12/7/14
Six Gills have been common on and off in Hood Canal. Like everywhere else you have to be at the right place at the right time to see one. And there seem to be several sightings for awhile, then none for a long while.

Re: I'm new here, have gear to sell.
There IS diving in Colorado although it's lakes and quarries. As a matter of fact, Colorado has more dive shops than any other state although I think that's because a lot of the land-locked divers do warm water trips. But anyway, moving to Colorado doesn't necessarily mean no diving.

GPO's really shallow and not denned, large schools of Rockfish really shallow, California Sea Cukes looking ill, Plumose Anemones flopping over.

Re: "Old Scar" Wolfie in the open water
Didn't see any indications of low O2 when we dove there last week but that would be my first guess too. That first video shows the Wolfie breathing pretty hard.
