I'm not sure I need a solenoid to lower PO2 seems like another thing to go wrong. Thats why I have an ADV. I'm not an eCCR diver but it seems like with all these solenoids firing left and right you've lost control of what's going on. Can you imagine the loop is the O2 solenoid stuck and then the Di...

Poseiden making MkVs (in lots of 200 I think) is really interesting, although I wonder if anyone will actually bite on that. The MkVI is kinda scary in its "stripped down" nature and their marketing approach has a bit too much of the "trust us we designed out all the risk" pitch....

Most of the things living on pilings are the uber critters. The creosote and pentachlorophenol both easily kill the sensitive stuff. Ditto even the most contaminated Puget Sound sediments still have life on+in them, just a wacked out non-functional community.

Our TDI Jetta is a stick, that we got new. Except for a couple of downtown Seattle hills in the heat of summer when I have the AC on and 3 people inside, I prefer it.
My used truck is auto. Its what was around when I was looking and it tows better IMO. Crappy mileage, but hey its a '92 Ranger.

Yeah its not like the city of Mukilteo is real happy about having their dock project postponed to buy ferries for the Keystone run. Putting those projects off even further by actually sinking some of the money in the Sound is not gonna fly. It might be a good tourism investment, but since the State ...

Forgetaboutit. The value of those ships even as scrap is too high. The State needs that money to reimburse the accounts/projects they had to rob to buy new boats for the Keystone run.

After watching the CO2 hit video last week, I'd be disinclined to swap canisters. Just replace both after a few hours of diving and don't try to be cheap and stupid. So removing that "non-benefit" are there any drawbacks to have two canisters? What's the negative issue on the Kiss, WOB? So...

Matt (or someone knowledgable) can you explain more about your trepidations around dual chambers? Assuming you ignore they so-so idea for reusing media (to some extent) and change both canisters simulataneously, what are the pluses and minues of dual chambers outside that?? Thanks Richard ps I have ...

If you continue up the coast Powell River has some nice sites. Well at least they look nice I haven't been that far. But that doubles your ferry costs.

After spending a bunch of $$ on gas, the ferry, and motel I would spring for some charters. I have done all the shore dives up there and I have to say they are rather uninspiring compared to some of the boat dives. Tuwanek is the best. A bit of a swim but worth doing. Cooper's Green and Egmont are d...

Steve Fischnaller (the shore dives book guy) has a higher tolerance for surface swims than I. Freshwater Bay and Tolmie barges are both >30mins each way. Make Sunrise and the Oil dock look pretty casual. That's not worth it for me, I got a boat. \:D/

I was actually "attacked" by a GPO once on Sares Head wall. Came right at me past my 2 buddies and climbed all over my head ripping my mask off. My reg stayed in my mouth fortunately. My buddy Veronica got it to let go by pinching its skin and it swam off. Unusual, although I have heard th...

I had forgotten about the wispy little curly cues. I have never seen them on the Xmas trees (cause they wouldn't form by water the same way by and large) but they are almost like snowflakes!! Each one different and delicate.

Fantastic pics Scott! So beautiful and surreal... I can see the lure of cave diving - and the necessity of the best of training and equipment. - 2-3 hour dives?! 3,000'+ back?! Wow... :smt119 NoHoch Na Chich (=the giant birdcage) is about 20ft deep on average so you can go a long ways on even a sma...

There are remains in alot of systems. Distrurbing them is a federal crime and I'm sure none of us wanna see the insides of a MX jail. They are not publicized, but not exactly secret if you know where to look and ask. Special landowner permissions or fees are required for various sites, but nothing s...

There's an Xas tree off the left line in NoHoch I think (forget that line's name). Its noticable on the exit more so than on the entry (just based on orientation). That was my virginal Xmas tree so its still in my head :)

GUE Tech2 class in BC, March

A colleague of mine is taking a Tech2 class with JJ up in Victoria. Its the last week of March 2008. One of the buddies had to cancel and they are looking for a 3rd from the WA/BC/ID area. If you are interested in pairing up with them for some pre-class diving and the class, PM me and I'll coordinat...
