Re: New Diver at Great Hood Canal Location
I am recently open water certified and have acquired all my gear to start enjoying diving. I own a small house on Miller Creek which is part of the Holiday Beach community located on Susan Ave., a short walk to Sund Rock. I spend as many weekends there as possible but am looking for dive buddies to...

Re: Question about Sunday in the hood
There's a pretty wicked exchange at Flagpole on Sunday. A few of us were planning to dive there sometime, but we are kind of on the fence. What will the currents be like? I have never dove the south sound. Wind driven surface current can be strong at flagpole. Sundays predicted southerlies with an ...

Re: Seal Saver
I wonder why they're discontinuing it, seems like a lot of people use it (myself included). Mcnett also discontinued ankle weights about a year ago. They reversed that decision. They do seem responsive to feedback. Trident makes a similar product, bu it is much more of a liquid . This is similiar t...

Re: feeding the fish
I thought Id take some food to feed the wolf eels or gpo's we encounter but Im not sure of what works and how to transport it.. any ideas??... Not a good idea anywhere, but if you are diving in any of the Marine Conservation Areas, it is against the law. The Sund Rock MCA has the relevant RCW poste...

Re: scooter batteries
So I just took a scooter workshop, and now the scooter crack has taken hold. I'm thinking of buying a scooter, but it seems like, for most scooters, you'll be spending around $1300 every two years or so on a new battery. Amortized (?), put away $50/month into a savings/scuba fund, and I guess it wo...

Re: Drysuits, AGAIN
High-end dry suits are awfully nice, but they are also awfully expensive. I have a Santi suit; it was custom made, fits beautifully, and has a ton of nice little features. But I could buy two Fusions for what it costs at retail. The Fusion is a lovely suit, although I loathe and would not recommend...

Re: Dry suit versus BC buoyancy question
I see absolutely no evidence that a Weezle impairs dumping air with an upper-arm dump, though it was an open question with the old forearm dump where the pause before dumping started seemed much longer. What brands were the dump valves? I'd be willing to bet that the one where it paused was an Apek...

Ok...for the first time in 6 or 7 years...I'm going back to dry gloves this year. I wanted Diving Concepts...but apparently they went bankrupt? So...hoping someone in the community can point me towards the "Diving Concepts" type glove. They are the push on glove system...not the turn the ...

Top 20 feet about 15, below that 30 +
The halocline was so pronounced at 10 feet it looked like you could bump your head on it. It was also considerably colder than the water below.
Good Diving

I have several Suunto's. I've sold hundreds. problems seem rare (in my experience) provided you don't put them in the baggage compartment on a plane and don't sit them where they can get blazing hot on a summer day. Mine seem to pass away sometime between the 10 and 15 year mark. I've had 2 of my p...

Re: geoducking
Had anyone here ever gone geoducking? There is a DNR recreational harvest area at the mouth of Budd Inlet. For many years the Kelp Krawlers did an annual duck dive and then we had chowder and stuff at Burfoot Park afterwords . This is a boat dive. The digging was not that difficult, but VERY MESSY....

Re: Any sage wisdom for a weekend in Victoria?
Greetings, We are just going up for a few days at the end of June, 2013 and I've not been diving up there. Can anyone recommend a "don't miss this" site or a dive shop that you liked? If you've been up recently maybe a condition report. I'm not counting on very good viz but maybe I'll get...

Re: Always analyze your gas!
So it brings up the question, for many newer divers, or those that just rent tanks, etc - does everyone on here analyze their gas pre-dive? Seems like that is part of the "lessons learned" here, but it doesn't seem to me that most people are analyzing their tanks before gearing up. Though...
