Re: Bonaire in May, 2011

And airfare to Bonaire in May is *usually* less expensive than in the high-season months (Nov-Mar). I scored a $550 RT ticket for a May trip, once. (As opposed to the $1K+ pricing I'm seeing for Feb. '11). Ouch.

I respectfully ask the moderators to split this topic if everyone chooses to continue planning their own photo contest by bashing this one. Thank you. Hey Jenn - not everyone here thinks negatively about this contest. I like it and think it is great that your club goes to all the trouble to offer t...

Yeah, the downside to PNW diving....all the hotties are bundled up in Weezles and drysuits. LOL.

If we ask REALLY nicely, will you bring the Tangfish Juice, too?

Re: Photographer's dilemma - equalizing pressure in dry glov

I agree. I hated trying to get my hand through the suit side ring and then through the latex seal. It's so much more comfortable with the seals folded over the rings! What?! I could have folded the seal OVER the ring? Sure....now I find this out. Oh well....I grew to hate the DC rings anyway....the...

Re: Photographer's dilemma - equalizing pressure in dry glov

Here is a different idea that worked for me when I was wearing dry gloves. My undergarment has elastic thumb loops. I kept the loops around my thumbs after putting my hands through the wrist seals and while the loops were still around my thumbs, I donned the dry gloves. This created enough air spac...

Yay! Club Dive on the one Saturday in September that we are in town. We will be there and will likely bring our customary cooler o' libations (water, soda, beer). Oh, and we will bring our "fresh from Fiji" tans, too. :angelblue:

Re: DIW ... and more camera woes

There is very limited parking at Day Island Wall, and some of the people who live near the access are not amused by having all of it full of divers tramping on the edges of their lawns. Day Island is one of the places where it's very important to be respectful, quiet, and make sure you pick up all ...

Re: O'Neill wetsuits

I have an O'neill 3/2mm shorty aeound your size that'd I'd sell for cheap. Thanks for the offer, but I need a full suit since I get so cold when I'm diving in the tropics. Last I heard O'neill stopped manufacturing their dive line. Wow.....that would suck! I really want the welded seams. Maybe I'll...

O'Neill wetsuits

Can anyone suggest a local (Seattle metro/East Side) shop that has a good selection of O'Neill wetsuits? I'm looking for a particular style (Women's DLux 4/3) and was hoping to find one locally so I could try it on before I buy it. Oh, and I prefer to spend in my local economy, too!

TIA.

Re: Worst diving movies you've seen

Of course if it was supposed to be set in the south pacific they do have those box jellies that kill people on a regular basis... even through skins and wetsuits. It's a big enough problem on the great barrier reef that they net off public beaches for swimming. My point exactly. There are many more...

Re: Worst diving movies you've seen

If you want total realism in a movie, why not just watch a documentary? Movies are escapism Nobody asked for "total realism," but there's no reason to be that inaccurate, either. this movie was more about the pure psychological aspect of being in a situation you cannot control It did a te...

Re: Worst diving movies you've seen

I watched Open Water for the sake of writing the script for my review. I remembered it being awful, but I didn't remember just how awful. Let's just say that this movie pissed me off to no end, and it takes a LOT for a movie to do that to me. Let me break the movie down for you: 75% boring conversa...
