Koos

If your compressor is 12 CFM, why did you choose the economy PMV since it is only rated for 10 CFM?

While the shop may want to do this, sometimes manufacturers won't allow the store to return a used suit. Check with the store FIRST!

Re: Where to find scallops

OOPS!! You are right ... I read the regulations page wrong.

You need rocky areas that are well swept by current or tidal activity. So, for the Oregon Coast that translates into a lot of cliff climbing.

Re: Where to find scallops

Ah ... Oregon shore diving is a problem. While there are a lot of nice places to shore dive, those conducive to rock scallops are pretty tough to get to. And with your 1 per day rule, it really isn't worth the work. When we first opened our dive shop in 1981, rock scallops were abundant and fairly e...

If you ordered a suit with options and they didn't include them and if you also ordered it as a custom and it doesn't fit perfect, then go back to the store and have them make it right.

A LOT of divers were taught here. Because we had a dive shop in PO years ago, I have literally hundreds of dives and, while I haven't been in the last few years, it will be missed. We did a wedding several years ago and used the anemone covered dolphins as a backdrop for the altar. It was on Evening...

Thanks for the video! It seems like every time I send out a reminder on oil changes, I get one customer or another that gives me a ration thinking I am just trying to sell oil! Well ... maybe I am but more importantly, I hate having one of my friends have their compressor go down needlessly. Oil is ...

Of the various Nikonos cameras, the IV-A will probably bring the least since it was the most troublesome. I recently got $45 for one on eBay with a 35mm lens. I felt lucky to get that!

Just remember that Netarts Bay is not exactly a local dive. The drive from Oregon City is like driving from Ft Lewis to Port Angeles ... about 2 hours.

Re: Compressor

My own compressor, my own fills, knowing what my fills are and relying upon them are all factors in the decision. There's the most important point! While there are some dive shops in the NW that have fantastic air systems, there are others that have no idea what they have installed nor how to take ...

Re: Compressor

CaptnJack is right ... you need to show us the compressor itself. That one looks like one of the 80s vintage re-packagers. Even Mako didn't make their own compressor back then... they repackaged Bauer blocks. If the air compressor has not been running regularly, you may be in for a full valve job an...

Reminds me of my fishing days when we would bring up something from depth and have the gas bladder sticking out the mouth. Maybe this is one that was drug up from depth and then released?

The best shop for you is the one that is closest to you that will take care of you to YOUR ...

That was a great regulator in it's day! I have a couple of old Dacor regulators that I have gold plated from when I was doing that a lot. Now that everything is plastic, I haven't gold plated anything! The Dacor regulators had the best chrome job in the industry and the Scubapro the worst. Sorry for...

Go on down to the local bottling plant and ask them if they have any of the steel CO2 bottles that didn't pass hydro. I have a friend that gets six to eight a year from them to make those bells.

Thanks for the nice comments, Guys! That Craigslist compressor is an old Nautica branded Coltri. Re: Puerto Rico / Caribbean dives during cruise

For newer divers or someone that isn't real familiar with the various ports and operators, I suggest checking with the cruise ship on their dive packages first. In general, cruise destinations are good for diving but many of the local operators are not as sensitive to departure times as they should ...

Re: A wierd thing happened at the dive shop today . . .

The only way for that valve to act like it did is for the soft seat in the valve to have come loose from the body (2,3) so that it could be held on the seat by the body when closed or fill whip pressure in the open position or moved off the seat by bottle pressure. Other than that, it is just plain ...

Metrics are a pain to find the right stuff. If you don't know the size, it is extremely difficult to order the right stuff. There is a fitting and hose place not too far from you (Fife)called Western Fluid that may have what you need and if they don't, can get it ordered fairly quick. Take your valv...

Which adapter are you looking for? If it is the one that goes in the standard black aluminum tower, that is a stainless (do not use steel!!) AN6 to 1/4" NPTF. I have those in stock if your guy doesn't find them for you.
