Re: Frozen Dive Buddy Revisited, Advice Appreciated

You're probably aware of this but watch out for the heat packs if you're using Nitrox. If they are the kind that react with o2 to produce the heat they can get much hotter when the o2 levels are increased.

Re: Dive buddy possibilities in the Portland area?

Hi Kenn, welcome to the forum. I'm down in Portland and would be happy to dive sometime however I am stuck with diving only weekends. There is a few people on here that dive weekdays too though. Definitely do some more diving with some folks before buying the rest of your gear and get some input on ...

Re: Boat rendezvous

Alright. I'm definitely going. I have room for two additional divers. No cover on my boat. It's probably going to be pretty chilly. We may have to invade the Dive Bum's heated cabin if it becomes a matter of life and death.

No Capt. He loves you too but you can't split the cost of gas from Portland.

Canvas? What's canvas? I'm in as long as I can get my on call covered at work. That shouldn't be much of an issue.

Cool. They're yours. The tank valves and the crossbar or just the tank valves?

Tank Bands, Thermo Valves

I have some 7.25 x 2.5" Highland tank bands, a couple of right hand XS Scuba 3442psi 3/4" DIN valves and an XS Scuba crossbar w/isolator for sale. $100 for the bands, $20 each for the valves and $50 for the crossbar. The tank bands and crossbar are like new. The tank valves are pretty good...

Re: Mercer Island Underwater Forest

There's one in Lake Cushman. Lot closer to PDX. That's right, I forgot about that one. There's also the mysterious sunken motel that may have burned to the ground and may be at 200' but may be shallower: http://www.nwdiveclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3435 Sounds like a worthwhile day of diving /...

I've dove the PBM once. It is a nice dive. I'd be up for that and the sunken forest. Just need to figure out a day.

Re: Mercer Island Underwater Forest

I love almost live! As a native Auburnite I sadly am not allowed on Mercer Island either and will probably never be able to dive this site from shore. I'd say it's best done as a dive after having done something cool in the lake, when you still have some gas in the tanks and are already on the boat...

Nice to talk to the author. Let me know when you have a trip planned out of Newport. I'd love to come along sometime. Do you guys ever dive out of Florence?

Re: Nice article/post about offshore Oregon diving.

Thanks for posting that. I have dove in and around Tillamook Bay but have never made it out of Yaquina Bay. The hardest thing about diving the coast, especially when you work Monday-Friday, is getting a weekend where tides and weather all come together to work for you. It always seems like one or th...

Have fun. I'd try and crash your dive trip but I already have my weekend planned. Here's a link to some info about Speelyai Bay Park which is where you'll be diving. I usually park at the far end of the lot and then enter the water to the right (west) of the docks and ramp. There's a little trail th...

You could try Lake Merwin. It's east of Woodland, WA. Here: https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=lake+merwin&ie=UTF-8&authuser=0 It's a good place to try out new stuff and is within your time frame. There are large logs and rock piles on the bottom. Not the most amazing stuff but closer ...
