Re: ThThTh 11/18
Is it even going to be diveable tonight at that time? Looking at the tide chart, it looks like we'll be in the middle of a 11+ foot exchange. Tonight is a full moon plus lunar eclipse... I'm just trying to learn the dive planning aspect for this area.

I'm like 90% positive I'll be there. I definitely prefer to buddy up, so hopefully someone doesn't mind that as well.

Re: Redondo (South)
It is amazing what some in-water eye training can do for helping you to spot things in the future. You can look at photos all day long and still look right past a critter in the water, but somehow once you see it in the water, your brain decides that it can find more in the future. Hope that is the ...

Re: ThThTh 11/11
Bryan is an awesome guy! My first dive with him he told me about lumpies and said he has never seen any and I've since managed to find 3. I told him I might have to make it a personal goal to find one for him on a dive. My current goal is to find a stubby squid. Anyone really good at spotting them?

Re: 2021.11.07 - Alki Junkyard
There is a Marker Buoy dive there tomorrow evening... I'm supposed to dive at Cove 2 in the evening, so I'm trying to find some folks who would want to dive the Junkyard earlier (I'm available any time after 2:30PM). If anyone is interested, let me know!

I guess technically I do too since I do stick a GoPro on top of my SLR, but I've never been super thrilled with the stills results from my GoPro.

Re: 2021.11.07 - Alki Junkyard
Not "a" ... multiple. I saw at least half a dozen. They seemed to be all throughout the seagrass. That is two different individuals above, and I know I saw at least a handful more that just weren't in a spot to even try for some shots. I'm not super familiar with them - can anyone tell me ...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
Wow - that's an incredible range of shots from the wider angle stuff all the way down to what I am assuming is greater than 1:1 macro. Is that multiple dives/camera setups?

2021.11.07 - Alki Junkyard
Figured I should share some of the highlights from my first dive with you folks! Thanks all for pointing stuff out for me and helping to train my eyes a bit more for the local critters. I missed critical focus on a couple of these and think I want to go back and try for some better shots of those sk...

Re: Nov 6th & 7th?
I can likely do a 10AM meet. If I get to the AirBNB at 9AM, drop my stuff off and then be on my way to Alki by 9:30, I should be able to make it there by 10AM. If you folks are willing to hold off a bit that would be awesome. But if it makes conditions less than ideal, don't feel like you have to - ...

Re: Nov 6th & 7th?
Earliest my new AirBNB will let me check in is 9AM, so the earliest I could dive would be 10AM. I'll check here in the morning to see what you folks are up to, but it looks like I'll not be able to join.

Re: ThThTh 11/4
I'm in. I can confirm lumpies and pipefish and baby wolfies at Three Tree. Haven't been back down to Redondo since before all the rain supposedly turned it into muddy zero vis... Though if I'm looking at the tide chart correctly, hitting Three Tree in the evening tomorrow might be tough with current...

Re: Nov 6th & 7th?
Any more thoughts/details on hitting Keystone on Saturday? I need to switch AirBNBs this weekend so I'm trying to figure out logistics with that and trying to squeeze in some diving as well. Would this be a day trip or overnight? Would it be a single dive or multiple dives? What is the general dive ...

Re: Can Someone Identify This Marine Mollusk
Is there a visible shell? Watching the video (from the other thread) it flies by so fast (has the video been run through a stabalizer?) that it is really hard to tell, but I thought I saw movement along the body of it... and it is rather over-exposed so it is losing all the detail.... but I honestly...

Re: COVID-Delayed Annual God's Pocket Report
Very cool - thanks for the visuals on that so I can get an idea of what I'd be working with. I wonder if you could put it on a drill press and drill a small hole in it to be able to put a lanyard of some sort on it to keep it from taking off if you drop it.

Re: COVID-Delayed Annual God's Pocket Report
Nevermind - I found them on Amazon. Looks like they're only about 3-4" in diameter from what I'm seeing. I'm guessing you're shooting with some diopters to get the port that close to the subject?

Re: COVID-Delayed Annual God's Pocket Report
Thanks for the info. I definitely see both arguments - photographing the animal in its natural environment is good, but also eliminating the background so you can focus purely on the animal is a good way to eliminate distractions/confusion. Both have their value. I can certainly see the argument abo...
