TuTuTu 12/22 Report

Howdy I did a dive at TTN tonight. I was hoping to go photograph all the beautiful pink-mouth hydroids I saw on the boat last time I was there several months ago. Last time I counted over 200 PMH's in the area! When I got there today, unfortunately it was majorly stripped of them. Many of them were ...

Re: Pacific Spiny Lumpsuckers

Note: I see them bunched up at particular depths. If I don't find them at one depth, I check another depth. Once I find one at a particular depth, I see others at that depth. The depth I find them at varies from dive-to-dive, usually between 30 and 5 feet. And often they're found on healthy-looking ...

Hi Jesse!
This should be the time of the year. I've only seen 3-4 so far this year, but I haven't looked too much.

Cool pics Jesse! Nice background on the bay pipefish.

Andy Lamb thinks those hatchlings are stubby squid babies. They really were quite a bit smaller and had different movements than GPO babies.

Your crab looks like a helmet crab. They're usually yellowish orangish.

ThThTh 12/17 - With mystery cepholopod hatchling sighting!

Howdy Folks! We had another great ThThTh dive tonight! :funky: Scubie Doo, GDog, ScubaJess and I made it for the dive! ScubaJess and I got to see a very unexpected critter on our way up -- some sort of baby squid or octopus! It was smaller than a GPO hatchling, and orange. I thought it may be a baby...

Moisture in housing tips

Hi I learned a couple tips for dealing with the unfortunate event of moisture/fogging in your camera housing setup over the last couple months 1) if you do get fog in your camera (or you're afraid of this), I found on my California trip that if I placed ice on my housing, away from the dome that it ...

Re: Vacuum pump camera leak detection systems

Hi Dave
I used the camera mode control. The one that can switch between aperture priority, shutter priority, manual etc. There are other options but that seemed easiest and most convenient to me. I've never used it underwater (I always use manual).

Re: Vacuum pump camera leak detection systems

Hello folks! I got myself the basic vacuum pump system from underwatercamerastuff.com So far I really like it. I installed it myself on my ikelite housing for my Nikon d7100 I use for wide angle photography (more prone to leaks because you're always changing the front port!) I'm happy to show it to ...
