Re: Discovery Bay boat trip again

Count me in. I can take 2 or 3 divers depending on weather conditions. I am not diving but I am happy to let people fall of the boat as long as they come back.

ORDiver and I have been running our boats out off of the Oregon Coast the last few months.

Re: Marine surveyor

A good source for a list of surveyors is the insurance company you plan to use. If you happen to be wanting to insure the boat. I have always been told never to just use the surveyor the broker recommends because most of the time you have competing interest. However looking for people on both the br...

Re: Diving "Northwest Shore Dives" in the San Juans

As Richard points out, Fischnaller did these dives back in the days when single Steel 72's and AL80's were the norm :) I've used single HP80's on several of them and don't remember the hikes being memorable. I giggle at the thought of doubles on them tho.. Great report!!! What single steel 72's are...

Re: What defines a "Stroke" diver?

My understanding from people who knew and dove with George (and who have gone fishing with him now) is that in person, he is a much milder and much nicer man. He had a Jekyll and Hyde issue with the internet. Good thing we don't have anyone "Jekyll and Hyde" like that around here.

You may also have problems if your Choey Lee has a foreign laid keel. They may have changed the laws but it used to be a major problem.

Re: Need OR dive advice on where to go when I'm out there...

Your best bet is to contact Eugene Skin Divers in Eugene. Clear Lake is a good dive however Clear Lake is only 37 to 39 degrees even in summer. Clear Lake is also an altitude dive. Florence North Jetty or Woahink Lake may also be good options. I do not think the National Park Service is currently is...

John is a really nice guy. I took one of my dive buddies who was a novice diver with a new point and shoot camera to a Redondo club dive. John was not diving that day but had showed up to support NWDC. John was amazing as he spent 45 minutes talking to my novice dive buddy about underwater photograp...

Merchant Marine Act of 1920 (Jones Act)

I am not saying it is right or wrong it just is the most likely reason.

Re: Neatarts Boat Ramp East Wall -Tillamook, OR

In Oregon you are allowed to use the boat ramps as entry and exit points so long as you do not impead the launching of boats . We dived there in Decemeber (2013) - The County Deputy we were with, said 'no divers on the boat ramp'. Sorry my 2 cents. And a bump Geoff in Oregon There have been alterca...

There is a resort run buy Linn County Oregon. There is a forest service camp ground "Cold Water Cove Campground" at the southeast end of the lake. There is also the Belknap Hot Springs 15 miles down the road. the Hot springs is a nice place to hangout after diving in 39 degree water. http:...
