Favorite iPhone dive planning application - AyeTides

I have been using the iPhone AyeTides app for a month and enjoy it. It has been more versatile than tidelog with the variety of stations to choose from. Having the app with my on my iphone has been convenient to quickly begin planning dives in person or on the phone with dive buddies. I recommend ch...

Ron:

Thanks for posting you experience with the WX1. I just finished my first dive with it today and I am amazed with the low light performance only using the built in flash. Photo link:

Re: Fourth Element SubXero - anyone here dive one?

I was not cold at all in the Artic during a 39 degree dive in Lake Michigan this summer, but it was in the 70's and sunny pre and post dive. I was warm when I used them here in 42 degree dives in late winter early spring when I decided to sell the SubXero. The biggest problem I had was with my hands...

Re: Fourth Element SubXero - anyone here dive one?

I started out with a SubXero diving here and replaced it with a Artic. The SubXero seemed like overkill for me. I can't tell you how much additional weight it needed since I switched out a lot of equipment from the few dives I had in it. I have been happy with the Artic here with my Weezle thermal b...

Ron:
Are these pictures still without a strobe on your new WX1? Could you point me to the Sea & Sea housing you use, I couldn't find the right one on their website.

Re: Cuff Dump

I was wondering about a cuff release when I was learning how to dive in my dry suit. Now that I have experience with it, I decided the shoulder dump valve works great and won't change it.

Ron: What type of lighting did you use, the built in flash or only ambient lighting? How deep were the pictures? I still can't get over the high quality without a strobe in Puget Sound waters.

Re: College credit for select PADI courses?

Luckily I benefited earlier in the history of college credit for PADI courses. In 1986 I received 1 or maybe 2 credits at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee taking a PADI OW class. The university pool was great for the first dives, but the quary in Racine Wisconsin for the open water dives in Nov...

Re: Thursday @ Redondo

great pictures Ron, what housing and strobe did you use with it?

I arrived early evening at Redondo yesterday and saw the same great vis and 4 free swimming small octos and a skate. Attached is a picture of the pristine water off of the pier.

+1 on the Samsung SyncMaster's. I have two at the office, and more at home. The latest one I acquired as a built in HDTV tuner for a few more dollars (T220HD).

Re: First Dives after OWC

I recently learned of a weight belt tip - I never tried it since I use a DUI weight harness. Once you reach 20' you should tighten the belt again, due to the suit squeeze making your waist narrower. In theory this should keep it in place.
