Re: Travel Bag for Carry-on
About batteries - the TSA requires Lithium-ion to be in carry-on bags, which sounds like the opposite of the MX security. So far, I haven't had any trouble carrying Li-ion batteries outside of my dive lights in separate plastic cases. The canister for my Hollis LED15 often gets extra scrutiny, thoug...

Re: Travel Bag for Carry-on
Since you're carrying a full set of gear, you'll need to split it between a checked bag and a carry-on. The fins, backplate, wing & wetsuit will need to be checked. As others have mentioned, any cutting tools also need to be checked. I take my regs, computers and lights in a carry-on. Typically ...

Re: Lemon
I'm thinking if you add enough garlic you could get them to taste like escargot.

What light(s) are you using? Very nice, even fill.

Re: How many Cu ft. for a drysuit bottle?
^ Sure, a 13cf bottle can be used for Argon. It's the same diameter as the LP 8cf and a little longer.

Wow. Amazing decorations. I'm going down in October to take a Cavern course and get my first taste of the Cenotes. Seeing pictures like these makes me wish it were sooner.

Re: How many Cu ft. for a drysuit bottle?
Bunch of goofballs. ;-) The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence always bring a smile to my face. I just did two easy dives at Cove 2 with a 6cuf Argon bottle. Used about 1700 PSI. I haven't tried flushing w/ Argon beforehand, but it still keeps me noticeably warmer. The 6cuf bottles tuck away nicely alo...

I've got a side mount rig that I'd like to dial in a bit more. Anybody else diving sidemount?

Re: Looking for a good sidemount instructor
True. Lead = air = warmth. If you're feeling shrink-wrapped at the end of a dive, just 2 lbs extra will help. This time of year I'm using a Lavacore full suit under an Arctic full suit with light merino T-shirt and shorts for the base. My socks are always two layers of merino wool. Difference in wei...

Re: Looking for a good sidemount instructor
Does the Xdeep have a place to put an argon bottle? I think it might, depending on how much you're willing to improvise. The central weight pouch that goes down the back has a number of attachment possibilities. I've already used it to attach the battery canister for my Green Force light. An Al6 mi...

Re: Looking for a good sidemount instructor
Since the discussion now includes gear configuration options, I thought I'd join in and share what I've learned so far. I decided on an xDeep Stealth sidemount rig, as it looked like a flexible system for both warm and cold water. I took the TDI Sidemount course combined w/ Advanced Nitrox while on ...

Re: In the hunt for "Ear Muffs"
Real gun shops will have better quality ear muffs. Look for ones w/ 25 to 30db rating. Even with those, I still like to use foam plugs under the muffs for better protection.
