Re: Greetings from Neah Bay

Hi We got in our last day of diving at Neah Bay today. The sites were Slant Rock and the Waddah Island Fingers. Viz was unfortunately craptastic. We didn't hit the prime sites on this trip due to the fog and wind, but it was still a lot of fun!!! Hope others have better luck with the conditions. DSC...

Re: Greetings from Neah Bay

Hi Tom What charter will you be on? Is it a REEF trip? Hope to see you! Bill, Sorry we missed you -- hopefully we can dive out this way sometime soon. Today was a bit of a bust, because there was too much fog, and we spent a lot of time waiting, or hitting lesser sites, like 3rd beach and the neah b...

Greetings from Neah Bay

Hi Greetings from Neah Bay! Cameron and I are out here diving for the weekend thru Monday, with Barb Roy and Lu Jaq's Quest. If you haven't been here before, it is some truly magnificent diving. The topography, wildlife, and marine life are stunning. Today we saw puffins, sealions, sea otters, beaut...

Re: Sea star die-off

The sea star wasting syndrome has now been observed all the way out to Neah Bay. Waiting to hear back of Tatoosh is impacted. Neah Bay is 3-5 degrees Celsius warmer than Tatoosh. Tatoosh island is where Dr. Paine's original keystone species work was carried out. Read more about that here: http://ww...

This is so cool, I've seen one or two babies on these snails before but not like this.
Are they two different species?

Re: Sea star die-off

Hi
I was diving Redondo the other day and observed that the bottle field there now has mottled stars all over it. That's not a sight I've seen before. Perhaps they're thriving in the absence of sunflower stars.

I like to call him the '800 lbs gorilla'

You should see his big wing. He's really compensating for something!!!

He got some freakin' awesome nudi shots though.

ThThTh 7/17

Hi We had a really nice crew come for ThThTh 7/17 at Redondo Gdog, Bradmond, Coulterboy, [[highly controversial diver who shall not be mentioned]], and myself. Great viz, cool critters, and a great time at the Ram after. Here were some of the sights: DSC_5156-4.jpg DSC_5330.jpg DSC_5287.jpg DSC_5277...

Re: Open ROV Project

So cool! I've been eyeing these. I'm very curious to see how worthy they'd be to this task! I've been dreaming about modifying one for U/W photography. Did you figure out a way to mount a good light? I'd be up for such a meet-and-greet! :)

Re: Traffic

I commute from Bellevue. Seems to me traffic to Issaquah and Seattle via 90 from there has actually gotten better over the years! But I have noticed traffic has gotten much worse in other areas, especially near JBLM.

Sorry to hear this is cramping into your style, Lynne!

South Sound 7/8

South Sound 7/8 -- who do we appreciate? Tom! :joshsmith: Thanks to Tom Nic for arranging a nice series of dives yesterday. I joined him for the night dive, along with 4 others at DIW -- great diving! Here were some of my pics. Notably, I didn't see any nudis on this dive (though penders did see 3 c...

Deception Pass Camping this Weekend

Hi
I ordered two spots for camping at Deception Pass this weekend (not dive camping). I only ended up needing one, if anyone would like to join, let me know. It is a fantastic campground, and I got good spots near the lake.

Monofin fun!

Hi I got to do some free diving tonight, with the new Smith Aerospace mono fin. It was so cool. When I was diving behind my buddy, I felt like an Orca whale as a part of an Orca pod (the tail motion and looks are very similar). Sweet! Dang those things are efficient and fast. We dove the slopes off ...

Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully it snagged on something. In which area did you fin up? Which direction was the current heading at the time? Hope you find it!
