Re: Ships aground

But the question is why did she end up on the beach with no one on board? Looks to be a very well kept boat but looks like that 10 horse kicker is her only power so maybe the wind just got to her? Hope there was no foul play involved. If her anchor was out, she most likely just drug her anchor from...

Re: Hello

Ha ha ha really you think this is Billy? Unfortunately the prompt to join up was to alert divers as to a dive gear theft that happened in the middle of the day on Sunday at Redondo. One of our students lost his set-up. Real bummer. But if it's ok to post as the shop in general coversations, COOL an...

Re: Tsunami debris

The plaque is a cool find. A few years before the Tsunami I was working on a project on the Northern Oregon Coast. As part of our routine each day we would pick up as much trash as we could. Plastic bottles with Asian writing were the most abundant thing we picked up. I wonder if their beaches are f...

Re: Trimix vs rebreather

Gotta test any helium to make sure its helium (and not argon or N2) regardless, screwups happen. Test with He analyzer or is there a different test needed? Put some in a bag and breath it, you'll know if its not helium. Make sure you have the phone handy to make calls when you do! :supz: :taco:

I will be out of town, so I can't go and I certainly want no part in the planning of your mighty fine shindig, but what about weather? The Omar is pretty exposed, it wouldn't take a lot in the way of wind and such to really make this not so much fun. Just sayin... So I should cancel now? Yes, that'...

Re: Which bp/w for a woman?

I'm 5'4", and a medium plate works for me. The short plate, which I have, has the waistband a bit too high. Unless your daughter is VERY short-waisted, I think a medium will be fine. I use the DSS 30 lb horseshoe wing with an HP 100, and it seems to work very well. BTW, Bubbles Below is a loca...

Re: What training do we need next

We have done some "basic/intro" rescue stuff with our dive team. GF just has first aid/CPR card but I am a full time Paramedic in a busy system along with teaching EMS. Rescue is something we do plan on doing for sure. The reason I posted up the questions the way I did is I keep reading &...

Re: Could someone explain BC Wings to me?

Lots of opinions in that link. Personally, starting with a jacket BC was a waste for me and if I could do it over I would have bought a BP/W to start with. Jacket BC's do not fit as snug, have increased drag, more discomfort, and your tank moves around more. Achieving precision buoyancy is a battle...

Go through Bend. There is a great dive shop there run by a guy named Walt. He has been diving in central Oregon for about twice as long as I have been alive, and he will be able to point you towards tons of locations. He will probably recommend Waldo Lake, and I second that. Its like diving Lake Cr...
