To the Vandal(s) at Mukilteo:

This is great that the overall response to this situation is forming constructive ideas. Whether people agree or disagree on said man-made items being placed underwater, it is evident that this dive site will be utilized for years to come. Now seems to be a great time to assess the situation, and if...

h20doc's next project?

The image is of a dive light using an aspheric lens, I believe. It is another type of lens that your led shines through, creating a nice solid beam with no spill. However, it also makes the hot spot the exact shape of the led emitter itself. In this case a square. I have been playing around with the...

Very nice, that is the kind of site I enjoy telling someone, "hey, you should check out this quick read, or such and such an article." The site navigates well.

Re: Remedial external strobe questions

Is there any reason NOT to cover up the internal strobe? Is its output critical to TTL calculations, or is the fiberoptic cable between the camera and the strobe all that is needed? I am not the expert on this site by any means, but here's what I do. For my camera, I tape a piece of slide film over...

GB Church wreck

I enjoyed diving the GB Church as much or even more than the Saskatchewan merely because I got to spend more time on it. I am not a tech diver and the max depth is significantly less. Also, it happened to be windy so the boat ride was much more enjoyable, as it sits in a protected area. Big octo und...

Sat 10/14 Sund Rock & Octopus Hole

Excited from all of the great trip reports earlier this week at Sund Rock, 3 buddies and myself decided to go to Hood Canal Saturday, August 14th. No one in our group had dove there before! Finally I think I have dove all of the "must do" dives in the greater Puget Sound area. It was a bea...

Thanks for the dive site info! That definitely helps supplement the other info I have browsed around for.

Happy diving to you

8/12/10, Thursday...Sund Rock?

Tom you say there are multiple profiles, I'm going to Sund on Saturday for the first time with a few buddies. I was planning to do North wall, Wreck, then South wall. Three separate dives, is this generally the best way to split it up? Thanks! I am really excited for a new site, muk and cove 2 have ...

Re: O'Neill wetsuits

I somehow knew replacing my Henderson was going to be tricky. Funny thing, because I replaced my O'neill with a Henderson...:) O'neill have always held up well for me. At first I wasn't so sure about the Henderson suit I got, however after 20-30 dives it is pretty sweet and waaarm. Still, not the s...

Re: O'Neill wetsuits

Last I heard O'neill stopped manufacturing their dive line. I was very upset! My favorite tropical suits were always O'neill and I had to change brands this last year when it was time for a replacement. FWIW UWS used to carry them and has some relics around back (at least a few men's sizes at the Se...

Face in the prop wash looks awesome!

I have only dove a sierra and cuda once each, during the day. Is it true that the bioluminescence looks awesome spinning off the prop wash at night?

Re: A bit of a gripe

I did not realize two people bought the place out. I too, showed up after work and was unable to buy "my" tank (HP100). Sort of annoying to wait another week or two, but I do realize they have limited storage space. The place was overflowing as it was. I like your idea of limiting the numb...

Lake Crescent

Planning to spend a night near Lake Crescent and do some diving. Any campsites that you have enjoyed? Most likely will have a handful of tents and one smaller RV as a base of operations. Any recommendations would be awesome. I have the list of park campgrounds, but it is always hard to know exactly ...

Ooooh

When possible future tests including lights other than Halcyon take place, I'd love to see dive rite's and other company's LED can lights up against the halcyon. Not to mention our NW Dive Club member's home made torches.

Thanks for the video

Room enough for an eighth diver? I realize the parking is likely limited. But space aside I'd love to come even if I have to cruise in the back of a buddy team.

Day Island still needs to come together for me!

Re: Batteries for strobes

The ones I use are very similar to dusty's suggestion. I use Sanyo eneloops for my strobes. They are also a lower milla amp hour rating which hasn't affected my strobes noticeably. The reason I like them is they will keep 80% charged for an extended time. Also, having the lower 2100-2300 rating they...

Re: Silica / Dessicant Pacs?

I use moisture munchers. They are little cylinders that start purple/blue and turn red/pink when "used up" or full of moisture. I get mine from UWS... I am sure most dive shops would have some sort of similar thing.

Great news, thanks to all who made this happen. One hypothetical, say a group of divers is going for a dive after Alki Fish hours of operation and the need arises... Just a thought I had, and I do think it was a very wise decision to place the unit in a secure location. The possibility of theft is n...

there's probably a number of A570 cameras around (craigs list) that are being discarded by owners looking to move up. That might be an option too, even if you do get yours repaired its nice to have a backup. Agreed, my first housed camera and the one I currently use is the A570. I purchased the fir...

Re: holy cow 500$ edge canister light 1200 lumens????

I believe that is the light a buddy of mine just purchased. It is indeed quite bright. I like how the canister is about half-sized. I noticed that the beam was much more focused than my UK Aquasun. Granted, my light isn't designed to be a headlight/laser beam like the sweet HID can-lights. My buddy ...
