Re: Narked?

For me it is a feeling of anxiety. I get obsessed with my computer, and my breathing. When it hits, it is usually around 85' or deeper. Doesnt seem to matter if it is in the Puget Sound, or the Carribean. However, it is hit and miss. Sometimes I feel it, other times I feel fine. Im sure that probabl...

Re: Sund Rock 1/1 and 1/2

No, we have a burgundy jeep cherokee, no yellow fins! We parked at the far south of the lot, got there about 1 or 2 PM. The GPO we watched had a big lingcod swim up to him unaware. The GPO grabbed it but the fish wriggled loose and got away...fun to see!

Sund Rock 1/1 and 1/2

Dove Sund Rock South Wall both days. On the first day, vis was about 10fsw down to the thermocline at 20', and then below was about 20'. The water temp above 20' was very cold...instant headache!! 6-7 Wolfies, and 6 GPOs among the usual critters. The next day was raining, and vis had deteriorated, m...

Re: NW Dive Sites; Better or Worse over time?

Ok on a side issue, or allowing me to rabbit trail here, I am struggling to grasp the pulling of the creosote pilings. As observed at both Titlow, and the former pilings at Harpers Ferry, the aquatic life seems to thrive on and around these pilings. Im sure that creosote may not be the best thing to...

Re: Low 02 in the Hood Canal?

Sounds like you were at Sund Rock? That sux, unfortunately seems to be an annual event with die-off. Hopefully with the rain and windy season it will help instead of make it worse.

Re: Hood Canal Diving

Yup, it was a marathon. I can tell by how sore I am this morning! But it was very much worth it. As far as the thermocline, as much as you know it is there, the cold shock is always a bit suprising...as in "oh wow....gasp.". Especially in the summer when the surface temps are relatively ba...

Hood Canal Diving

Great weekend diving the canal, passed the 200 dive mark and saw a ton of octos and wolfies. Saturday, dove Flagpole point, kicked out from Mikes beach access road to the point, hit the south end of the knuckle and explored it. Found several Octos, no wolfies, all in all a great dive. Took the next ...

Jorstad Creek Saturday evening, top vis probably 20' down to 20fsw, and about 65 degrees warm...almost tropical! Very definate thermalcline, water temp dropped to 48 below it. Thick layer of what..kril? I dont know...cleared up a llittle below 40 fsw, but still not great vis, maybe 15' or so.

Fox Island West Wall - No Go

Drove out to dive the west wall on Fox Island, a nice easy dive and a decent small wall with good amount of life usually. The neighbor is redoing the boulders in front of his house. This takes a huge barge loaded with huge rocks, the work is done at low tide with a track hoe. The barge is anchored p...
