She's baaaacccckkk....

...but not for good, I'm sorry :( I'm in "town" from July 18-22. I'm planning to hit the Thursday dive, and hopefully Port Townsend (maybe for a dive, maybe not...) and maaayyybbbeeee Hood Canal. Rental car and lodging pending. Let me know where I should be in that time frame, I'll see wha...

Re: Octo/BC combo air supply

You have a lot of opinions here, which you seem to be trying to fight. If you want an air integrated octo, then go ahead and get one - most people here aren't going to refuse to dive with you, and you can decide for yourself if it's for you. You might end up liking it, or you might end up "buyi...

Re: Anyone home brew?

Here's an interesting thread on 1-gallon batches. I really like them because I can make them in my kichen, and my 1-gallon containers are much easier to clean in the sink. But, to each their own. I think extract or partial mash recipes can go either way, but I prefer small batches when I do all-gra...

Re: Great Starter Camera Kit

This is what I've used underwater for the last few years. I LOVE it! This is such a good deal I'm considering it just for the housing, in case mine ever fails me...except I like to use the internal flash. Someone needs to snatch this up!

1. Those "HI BABY"s were very annoying
2. Someone needs to teach this person to hold their phone the right way
3. All that aside....that's pretty freaking adorable! I can't even stay annoyed about it.

And I wonder if his shorts smelled really bad after...

Re: please watch for this gear

\Two guys came in with the gear (still all assembled mind you) wanting to sell it. David recognized the gear immediately, stalled, and called the poice. The two were arrested and the gear is being returned to Darren. We are so thankful to be a part of an awesome dive community! This made me facepal...

Re: Three Tree 4/16 LUMPIES!!!!

TTN is a great place to find little lumpies! :) I think Eric and I spent about 90 minutes photograhing maybe...six kelp leaves one time, with all the little lumpies. One of my favorite dives at TTN!

Oh my gosh, I used to come up covered with skeleton shrimp in hood canal too! Especially if you hang on to the line during your safety stop. They're wild, but fun to photograph :)

Re: Diving with ghosts.

There's a book called Haunted Lake Michigan, and a diver describes an experience with a ghost on one of the wrecks there while inside the wreck. I think the wreck he was on did not have any casualties when it sank, though has claimed at least three divers who got lost inside the ship. I don't know o...

Re: Diving Lake Michigan

Yeah we've had an exceptionally dry year. I don't know much out of Chicago, I usually go out of Milwaukee. The shop I would probably most recommend is Dive Right In Scuba, and they also offer charters out of Chicago (http://drischarters.com/) If you get the chance I would HIGHLY recommend getting ou...

You've obviously positively impacted the dive world all around the US, and I hope you are proud of that, and have lots of good memories! Stay in touch.

Oh my god - we never even got to dive together, and I'm so glad that option wasn't written off forever! What a frightening story, and a terribly close call. Take care of yourself man, and I will keep my fingers crossed that you recover quickly and are eventually cleared to dive again (if you wish, o...

Hey, could someone hang onto one for me? I think I'll be in the area in July or August - I will definitely post when I have plans! Are they all mens/unisex? I believe they are all men's cuts. And we can send you one when they're back from the printers. Word. Someone just shoot me a message when the...

Re: Yesterday at Pt. Townsend

It is less current sensitive than Hudson, but you still want to look at the tide tables. I've seen those pilings throw a wake, had collection pots wrap completely around poles, and been caught in one really weird current. You can dive it on most slack tides, and on small exchanges, but I would not s...

Well, they didn't call me "lumpsucker" at the shop for nothing :P I even found them on the Ranger...more than once!

And yes...there were definitely lots of grunts! Good luck on the candy stripes - I don't think I ever had the chance to see one while I was there.

Re: Yesterday at Pt. Townsend

Yes it's a nice dive site because you can always find something interesting to see either at the Barge or shallower in the eel grass bed. It can be a reef or muck dive. There are other sites in Port Townsend that I would like to explore: the pilings and artificial reef at Fort Warden Science Center...

Re: Tacoma-area - 30-foot gray whale @ Les Davis

Sounds like the writer didn't bother to do any research at all. "It's hungry for squid"??? No, grey whales feed on things in the mud. They make it sound like the grey whale is stranded and in trouble - but it's normal (in fact, necessary) for grey whales to be that near to shore because th...
