Re: Video short of Nanaimo Wrecks 12/9
Those two wrecks were a big part of the reason I started tech classes. Diving them with a single tank just didn't give me enough time!

A quick question about Casey's examples, are they all assuming 80 cu ft deco bottles?
How often do you guys use 40 cu ft deco bottles if ever?

Re: Stainless steel grommets
I used webbing to sling my pony bottle, and brass grommets to hold the webbing together:
It's been on many dives with no tearing or corrosion.

Re: Double tanks
So, I have HP 100's, and I've transfilled them from one of my 119's (I guess the real capacity is around 123 cf), and I've only gotten an additional 500 psi or so out of it. It was for a tech 1 class, so it was really just for an extra time margin, and I didn't wind up needing the extra air anyway. ...

FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't been able to dive for the last two weeks because of bronchitis, and now it's raining, so all the great viz will be totally silted out. I'll be quietly fuming at having missed the opportunity as I'm diving in Maui for the next week or so.

Re: Scuba... From a Kayak???
I've taken a class from the guy that started the Yahoo group. It's eminently doable, even with all the crap we need to dive here. One caveat is that your tank/bcd need to be able to float independently, since you have to don/doff it in the water. It's also really easy to lose things that are negativ...

New buoy at Mukilteo
As part of a tech diving class, I got to help DiveZen, Jon and Guillaume install a new buoy at Mukilteo today. It's on the concrete block at 130' near the radar dish and the man. The plan we cooked up went off without a hitch, and the new buoy is now attached with a 20' loop of chain to the existing...

What size tank? What if you put a rebreather on it?
If it's 62 miles off of an AL80, think of what you could get from one of those really high-pressure epoxy tanks!

Re: Pony bottle mounting
I find that when you sling a bottle, it actually tends to float bottom-up, and back, out of your way. Stage rigging isn't that expensive, I'd give it a try slung like a stage bottle first, then if that's really getting in your way, it won't be too difficult to move to sidemount.

Re: Transfill pressure between dissimilar tanks
Thanks for the replies and advice. So it might actually make sense to transfill a few times from a big tank, especially if it's just air lost from charging the first stage. As far as the efficacy of using the pony/stage with doubles, I've only done about 10 dives with them so far, 3 of those being t...

Re: Transfill pressure between dissimilar tanks
It's not even that I'm necessarily breathing off the pony, but opening the valve to pressurize the first and second stage uses air, and over the course of X dives, you won't have the 3000 psi you started with. I'm getting two recreational dives per fill out of the doubles, so I'm thinking it's nice ...
