Re: Terrible T-dock Tuesday (TTT) - 10/15

I would seriously love to join one of your picnic point dives...I've never done it PP is an ok dive, but hardly worth schlepping gear over the bridge. Jeremy loves schlepping gear for dives that are barely worth it. 10 min in Deception Pass would be worth more than 90min at PP...just my opinion.

If you're a new diver or have been out of the water for a while, this is a great opportunity to jump back in with some decent dive buddies... plus me and jake. All levels and all gear configurations are welcome. If anyone wants to post up for dive 2 at 6:30, I'll hang around for that too! BUT WAIT T...

My 12yr old son outgrew his wetsuit, so it's time to find the next size up, and this time we'll go dry. He's 5'4" 135lbs and his feet are men's size 9. At least that's what he is today. (sheeesh) they do grow fast at this age. Not particular on brand, but looking for a shell of one variety or a...

Re: Hogarthian Harness Straps vs...

mpspringer, I'm 5'9" and I started diving with DSS setup like yours but with a large plate. you're welcome to borrow it if you want to compare the large vs. medium. Hogarthian isn't the be-all and end-all of gear configurations, but from your posts, I'm wondering if you've been taught how to se...

It didn't quite make it into the shot, but the ling under the oil dock was the biggest I've seen out there. Nearly EUP sized.

Re: Is it time to update the Weekly Dives thread?

I'd be sad to see it go, but I'm not Mattley or Fishtiq, and without them it's just not the same. I still do MMM with or without folks showing up, and whenever someone posts up asking for a big buddy I'm happy to give them the nickel tour of the Muk and I'm usually a sucker for filling folks' tanks ...

me too. that's why my bail out bottle is a 119 on an isolated manifold connected to my primary 119, with the reg on a necklace. No worries. And just in case- my teammate always has enough to get me to the surface or else we both die.

I wish- still bogged down with work so I'm out this Monday, but I should be back next time around. Glad you're having fun getting used to the new gear- it can be a challenge keeping it fun when you're working out the kinks. Keep with it!

Agreed, in part, but to put my lengthy previous post in context, I was largely taking issue with the way Chatterton interprets buddy diving and team diving.

Self-reliance is not discouraged in the team diving I’ve learned. Just the contrary- I’ve been taught that every member is not only self-reliant, but planning to be relied on by at least one other member of the team as well when the need arises. I'm not quite wrapping my brain around this statement...

Maybe it's a great way to start a blog- after all it got me thinking... none the less I probably wouldn’t be offering the following observations if it weren’t for the fact that, coincidentally, I just finished reading “Shadow Divers” last night and today I read Chatterton’s blog posts. I don’t know ...
