Re: How many dives did you do in 2009?
96 fun dives logged. Probably about 20-30 additional training dives that I didn't log. That is about my annual average.
2 dives so far in 2010!

Re: So, my buddy is a diabetic...
Thanks everyone! I appreciate the input. I fall into the camp of "it depends". I feel if he/she is controlling with diet, then I wouldn't worry about it, but if it is someone that uses insulin, that might be helpful to know in case of an emergency. Either way, it would not prevent me from ...

So, my buddy is a diabetic...
A question was raised a few days ago in the store and I wanted to throw it out to you all to see what you think. If you were diving with someone who was a diabetic, do you think it is important that he/she tell you? If you are a diabetic, should you (or do you) let your dive buddy know? If you were ...

Re: DIW 12-28-2009
Diverbob and I met at 0700 this morning to take advantage of the minimal currents on DIW. Predicted slack was 0745 and we dropped on the wall at 0800 and took off to the north in completely still water. Viz was a milky 15 fsw and water temp was a balmy 55 degrees. Ron...we dropped in about 30 minut...

Re: A very big THANK YOU to Nate Savage
It's strange that someone stole all of his gear and then just left it somewhere for a good samaritan to find. I'm glad that he got everything back, regardless. Happy Holidays! My guess is that the thieves didn't know what they were stealing, and then just dumped it because they didn't know what it ...

A very big THANK YOU to Nate Savage
A couple of weeks ago, one of our instructors, Scott had all his regulators, computers, lights, camera and even his thermals stolen out of his truck, in front of his house. It has been a tough year for him because he has been unemployed. Luckily, his insurance would cover his stuff, but only to a po...

Re: Porthole Dive Charters closing up shop
Last I heard, the Misty was in Oregon, operating as a whale watching boat. I know that Banditos was looking into purchasing the Hook, but the sale fell through. All this info was given to me 2-3 years ago. The Misty Fjord was a great boat. You actually geared up inside the boat (tanks and all) and g...

Re: Porthole Dive Charters closing up shop
We had some great dives off the Mark V and the Dash. Last new year's eve we had a group on board and we were booked for this year too. Guess I need to make other plans. Thanks Mike and his team for a lot of fun dives. PS...I miss the Misty and the Hook too. I did my first boat dive off the Hook, man...

Every foot is different but here is a size chart that typically works for those looking to purchase fins to dive with heavy-soled drysuits boots. In men's sizes... smaller than a 6=medium size 6-9=regular/large (these are the same size, each manufacturer has sizing differently) Size 9-12 XL Size 11-...

Re: Review...Intova Super Nova Waterproof torch
Is it this one? http://www.adorama.com/UWINSN5000.html It looks like a nice design, but for the most part for a general purpose light wide angle isn't what I'm looking for. Yes. This light isn't for everyone, but for a diver that wants something better than a UK Light Canon for general use, this is...

Review...Intova Super Nova Waterproof torch
I got this light from the Intova distributer and he asked me to dive it, and tell him what I think. It is a 500 lumens and a LED. I have been a little disappointed with the UK product lately, especially my Light Cannon. I was looking to upgrade to a canister light, but I decided to try it and see th...
