Warbonnets and Cloud Sponges - Sund Rock

Went to Sund Rock on Saturday - viz was a solid 30 feet for the first dive! Met a wonderful, young couple who just completed their certification this past week and completed three dives at Sund Rock in wet suits! I got cold just talking with them! However, I loved their enthusiasm - and they got to ...

Point Hudson

Hello Fellow Divers! I went out to Port Townsend for this Saturday's favorable (low) currents and dove two dives at Point Hudson. Viz was 15 to 20 feet - a little better than when I was here about a month ago. Lots of critters out and about! Several clown nudis on the barge. Also, a number of dendro...

Hudson Point - Fall Time!

We took advantage of the mild currents running this weekend - and made a quick trip to Port Townsend. Vis was 10 to 15 feet. Lots of fish activity, all around the jetty and nearby debris. Found 4 different grunt sculpins - one was a tiny juvenile! Not as many nudis here now compared to 3 to 4 months...

Point Hudson Adventure

With the low current/tidal exchanges this weekend - I decided to head out to Port Townsend and dive Point Hudson. The first dive splash was at 11:30AM and was perfect timing for complete slack. Was able to fully explore the jetty, surrounding area and all the debris and wreckage that is at 60 to 70 ...

Keystone Friday Afternoon

I was up North (Marysville area) for work this past week - so a fellow coworker from Sacramento and I took time to go up to Keystone. The weather was gorgeous! Sun in the afternoon and sunset included lots of pinks and reds in the sky. Viz was about 15 feet - good enough to still see a lot of life -...

New Year's Sund Rock Dive

What a great way to start off the new year! Jess, Eric, Tom, Tim and Kirsten all got wet today at Sund Rock. And - there were many other divers all happy to plunge into the water on this calm, sunny and beautiful day. Viz on the South Wall opened up to 30 feet at depth. Viz was generally good wherev...

Sund Rock Dive on New Year's Day!

Happy New Year at Sund Rock! Hello! Anyone interested in starting the year off right with 2 dives at Sund Rock??? Planned meetup time would be 9:30AM. Plan for the first dive is to go 115 feet deep and visit the warbonnets that live on the cloud sponges on the South Wall. Dive 2 will be on the North...

Lambeh Straits

Hello All! I haven't written on this forum for almost a year! I moved from Federal Way to Vancouver, WA - so I dive mostly now at Hood Canal sites. However - I was able to spend 10 days this last Spring in the Lambeh Straits and in Raja Ampat on a liveaboard. This was my first trip to Indonesia - an...

Flagpole Today!

Dale and I went back to Flagpole - first time I have been there in about six weeks! All the wolf eels are still happy and in their dens, surrounding the pinnacle. The viz today was limited on top - but cleared to probably 20 feet below 20 feet. Nice that you could actually see stuff! We visited one ...

Diving in La Paz, Mexico

This was my second visit to La Paz - I went there four years ago. I've been eager to go back. La Paz is not a great place for colorful corals. La Paz does not have the clearest viz - but what it does have is an amazing abundance of underwater life and diversity! Part of my "bucket list" fo...

GPO at Flagpole and Some Extra Color!

Dale and I went diving at Flagpole last weekend - this was my first time back into the water since my Honduras trip. I can't remember the last time that I have waited a month between dive times! (I have a new job and have spent too much time out of town - I hate it when work gets in the way of divin...

Roatan with Macro

First of all - let me clearly admit to everyone - I am an idiot! I managed to cleverly organize all my camera equipment and then pack it for my trip to Roatan with my wife, Konni. To my great dismay - when I arrived at Roatan - I realized that I had forgot my wide angle lens. (It was neatly packed a...
