I am still on the fence but if I come I promise I'll actually bring my booties this time. Should I bring my dry hood for Norris too?

Re: Most important items for a save a dive kit?

I think that the best save a dive kit item is a checklist so you don't leave a crucial item at home. This year it has been boots twice (thanks Paulicarp) and lead for me. At least I was smart enough to pack the inflator hose in the drysuit bag when I removed it from my reg. That said I have a little...

Don't forget the foam ear plugs. Also the price of noise canceling headphones has dropped quite a bit if you don't have to have the Bose unit.

Re: Any splastion- er splash action this weekend?

I'll probably be down to Redondo later in the morning and may want to buddy with somebody. I'm normal sized with a beard but I'll be with a very obese couple (impossible to miss). I don't know if we'll be in the big white Chevy diesel truck or the burgendy Toyota mini-van.

Re: New to Seattle

Welcome April, About half my dives are with folks off the board here (perhaps tonight at Muckelteo). Watch the dive planning forum. There are also good traditional dive clubs locally like Marker Buoy Dive Club (Seattle) and Moss Bay Dive Club (eastside) if you are interested. I live in the Northgate...

WDFW seeking volunteers to help collect crav larvae

The Everett Herold reports that volunteers are needed to help collect crab larvae in Snohomish County. The work isn’t hard, said Paul Williams, a shellfish biologist with the Suquamish Tribe. It might be a bit yucky, but the payoff is that Williams and other biologists will be able to use the larvae...

Re: question about neah bay - sekiu

The road is paved all the way to Neah Bay. I think that Chad is out at Neah Bay with his boat right now and nobody to dive with on Wed. I would suggest hooking up with him for some nice boat diving rather than hitting those other sites. PM me if you want his phone number.

Re: Singing Allelujah with Sharks at Keystone Jetty!

I have seen thousands of dogfish gather at the North end of Cyprus Is. in the shallows just off the beach around this time of year. I have been told that they gather to eat the oolachan (aka candle-fish/smelt/grunion) which spawn this time of year at a specific point in the lunar cycle. Made sense t...

If for some reason you don't feel comfortable replacing a zipper slide I highly recommend Rainy Pass Repair in Fremont. They do top notch repair for outdoor gear (REI sends them lots of warranty work).

Re: Lingcod vs. Salmon!

When I was a kid my family lived in Anchorage, Ak. for a few years. One time when we were bottom fishing jigging from a friend's boat in Prince William Sound (pre-Exxon Valdez) my mom hooked a fish. As she brought it to the surface a big lingcod jumped out of the water and latched on to the little k...
