Re: “Marigold” dry gloves with DUI wrist Zip Seals

I have zip seals on my DUI TLS350SE and have had the SiTech system I linked installed since I bought it. No glue just a set of plastic rings and a bit of firm pressure to get them setup and then you're off to dive. If a seal ever fails you can pop these off, install the new seal and then reinstall ...

Re: “Marigold” dry gloves with DUI wrist Zip Seals

Newbie here.. Does the Marigold system refers to this - https://www.diverightinscuba.com/bootshoodsglovesglovesdrysuitgloves-sitech-rubberpulloverdrygloverings-p-2704.html? I just got a Yukon II and was planning on getting these too? @Captn - Are these incompatible with zip seals? @finnegan - Which...

Re: “Marigold” dry gloves with DUI wrist Zip Seals

the marigold pullover rings and the zip seals are completely incompatible with one another you can put conventional rings like the kubi or the sitec on the latex zip seals and thus have an intact wrist seal underneath. But these are not pullover rings. its easy to replace the gloves on rings like th...

single valves you can find new at NESS or DGE

You'll have to search for a manifold used on here, ebay, or scubaboard. they are no longer in production.

Re: Best options for cold water/warm water hybrid bp&w rig

I would just get a steel and separate ali plates. They are pretty cheap.
Actually more expensive but also viable would be to get an ali plate and a weighted sta. Use the cam band slots and the ali plate travelling and the same plate with the ~6lb STA locally. But two plates is actually cheaper.

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

I've been diving custom Seasoft suits for years. Bruce has his slant on things but I can assure everyone that it's hard to find a more sincere person. That kind of fine would likely be the end of a small business like that. Total agreement with you. His liability insurance should cover accidents an...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

The amount of lead naturally in the ocean environment is a mystery to me; is the gunk from scuba weights so insignificant compared to natural sources that we're worried about nothing? I'm not particularly worried about scuba lead in the ocean, there aren't that many divers, solubility is low and th...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

The surface passivation of metallic lead in water is a mixture of lead salts including Cl-, OH- and SO4-. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1179/000705982798274480?journalCode=ycst19 The high surface area along with the grinding of the pellets in the bag together afterwards is leading that pas...

Re: How do you secure and protect your camera?

Tie a bolt snap to your camera. Common lengths are between 0 and 12" the longer ones are basically a dog leash with a SS boltsnap on the end. If its not in your hands clip it off to your chest or butt d-ring depending on the dive. Things to avoid: 1) any plastic whatsoever. All cords are ~3mm+ ...

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

I dug out my old copy of Lange's Handbook of Chemistry. Lead oxide (PbO) is yellow. Lead chloride (PbCl2) is white. The milky stuff we are probably seeing from our soft weights is probably lead chloride (not definitive). It could form if some of the lead dissolved due to corrosion or some other typ...

Re: Cuda 400 needs a new battery

Yep I have some li-ion packs too. But in this case I am specifically looking for 20x NIMH D-cells to make a 20ah 14.4V pack that's heavy enough to sink an existing SLA canister at the 20ft stop in fresh water. And last ~2.5 hours with a minimum voltage drop under 40W load to no less than 12V.

Re: Seasoft Fined For Dumping Lead, Arsenic

I’m sure the government has a close eye on them and any mistakes result in a great way to generate $$$. The fines are not collected for the purpose of funding state services, they are there to make it hurt bad enough so the profitability of breaking the rules is lower than following them. If you ac...

Disposal is expensive and cuts into profit margins. The conditions there sounds scary and awful. I shudder to think about how much l...

They can appeal the citation to the pollution control hearings board within 30days. But this seems like a pretty willful violation and the "1lb" argument (which I am not sure is true) is weak sauce. Just to give you some perspective, the acute water quality criteria for lead in marine wate...

If it doesn't have a USCG approved HIN number you will have to stamp one on. Mine didn't and WA DOL issued me one that I had to stamp on (with a set of harbor freight letters)

Re: INMAR RIBS

I imported my RIB from Canada, you can build your own boat if you want. There is no requirement for it to be USCG approved. You wont pay BC sales taxes on the export but you have to take it straight to the border with the required paperwork. You will pay WA sales (use) taxes to register it here. I w...

Re: INMAR RIBS

I dunno where Bill is getting his info but at least at the top end the Hurricanes are an amazing boat. They would suck for diving because the tubes are huge. Personally I would love a diesel Willard RIB, even if they are not super fast (max ~28knots) they are lovely and great in heavy weather. Findi...

$22K + taxes sounds like a lot but this is a nice boat with a decent deck layout for diving. Only thing I would change is up to the max 60hp.

Which model are you looking at? I have no direct experience with them but see they are made in San Diego and have both PVC and Hypalon models. I had an aluminum floor wooden keeled SIB for about 6 years (a Bombard). It was a decent PVC boat. PVC fabrics don't like sun, Hypalon glue doesn't like heat...

I have always picked really small exchanges for this site - mostly because I've never had a tender. I just anchor by the old foundation in 25ft but I haven't done this site since the WSA buoy got installed. I question 12yo me saying "anytime" on the flood is ok. That seems rather bold in r...
