Nice report Josh. Was a fun little trip. Couldn't have asked for better conditions above & below the water.
You should have tried the chicken bone & maybe a chant on your mask.

Re: MT6 a working hypothesis
. They didn't say at what depth this "new" wreck lies -- I wonder if they plan to dive it, or if the ROV in the last scene is what's gathering the photo data? All dimensional and photo data has been gathered via ROV,sonar, etc. Any further exploration will be conducted in the same manner. ...

Re: Rebreather instructor training..
I know you said you weren't naming units or agencies. I'm just curious are you talking about a full CCR or just a gas extending unit such as a GEM? With the gas extending units 75 dives would most likely be more than suffcient for an existing instructor to crossover. However with a full CCR as state...

http://www.customrebreathers.com/ My .02 ISC always has a large booth at the Tacoma Dive & Travel show. I would recommend coming and talking to them and seeing the products in person. FWIW I have always found ISC's customer service to be top notch. They have gone over & above for our team on...

Re: Trimix vs rebreather
IMHO if you look at your long term goals you can make the best decision. If you think you will be content just doing the depths you mentioned, you really can't go wrong with either system. Both have advantages and disadvantages. Just different disciplines. Any kind of tech diving is real financial i...

Re: Tech education in the NW
I have to agree with John. Ron Akeson is one of the most if not the most experienced tech instructor in the area. All of my tech training was beat into my head by Ron more years ago than I care to admit. If you live north of Seattle it would be worth giving Ron a call or just stop by for a chat. He ...

Re: Remembering the Al-Ind-Esk-A Sea
We definitely didn't do it on a "good" day. Vis could be measured in inches, and I can see how it'd be easy to inadvertently end up inside without realizing it. That's the Al. You must have hit an exceptionally bad day. We have had a couple of those. Fortunately those are not the normal c...

Re: Remembering the Al-Ind-Esk-A Sea
Have to agree with Josh. On the right day it is a great dive, & on the wrong day ....well. From my experience typically the conditions are not much different from the deep wrecks in Elliot Bay or Lake Wa. dark, low vis and lots of silt. However your results may vary.

4th element dive wear & Hollis BT
Brand new, never used 4th Element SubXero size med. This was an impulse buy and it seems that I'm between sizes. Just never fit me the way I would have liked. $ 300. Hollis DG01 BT w/ DSS mount. Has no scratches or marks. User replacable battery. Has approx 6-10 dives on it. Current battery has 1 di...

Re: SS Governor 2012
Unfortunately there is more to recovering the bell than just floating it. Personally I would have no problem doing a recovery under the right conditions. But it would be a waste to just have it go sit on a mantle or in a garage somewhere. In that case its better off where it sits. Been there since 1...

This is very cool and I'm particularly pleased that this project has been a collaboration with MOHI and CWB . I like the idea that the information collected will be seen outside of the relativity small wreck diving community. You nailed it. This is the whole idea behind MDS. To share our sunken her...

Well its been about 8-9 months I’ve been thinking its time for a post script to this story. Here is what we know to date: Mark succumbed to a previously undiagnosed medical condition. As reported by the medical examiner the cause was non diving related. Out of respect for Mark’s family I won’t go in...

Re: SS Bunker Hill, or
It is a lot of gas that is for sure. You are going to chew through just under 500 cu ft of deco gas. We typically have 20+ CCR and a few OC divers in 3 man teams put in the water every 15min. Each team is carrying around 600 cu ft of bailout. Extra 80's clipped off at 70' and 30'. With all the team...
