Welcome to the club Brian / brihno .
I haven't had a chance to dive that area, but I hear there is some nice diving in Southern Oregon and Northern California. If you ever make it as far north as Newport or Florence and are looking for someone to dive with, drop me a line .

Re: Recently moved to NW and ready dive
Hey Camille :), Welcome to the club and to Corvallis :). It looks like we share a similar affection for straight-forward user names :P In Corvallis we are a bit further away from the Puget Sound than most people on the board, but we do have diving less than an hour away on the Oregon Coast. I try to...

Re: Hoodscanal 7/11
Of course what Bric is failing to mention is that he spent 10 hours in the water on a rescue dive the day before and had to swim out with a slow leaking BC :P, don't let him under sell his surface swim skills, he is a machine :). Overall it went great, I had heard some horror stories about the Flag ...

Re: Vis on the coast?
Matt and I are headed out to Garibaldi on Monday if you'd like to come along. I figured we'd check the vis and fisherman situation on the north jetty. If either of those are bad we'd head in to Three Graces or where the bay doglegs and maybe do some clamming. Yeah I'm down to dive on Monday. What t...

Re: Vis on the coast?
No worries Bric. It was my fault I shouldn't have waited until Thursday to try and get in on the trip :P. I'll drop you a line next week and we can work out a time to dive. Next Sunday high slack is around 1:30 with a 3.6 foot high low exchange. Not placid but we could certainly get a few dives in a...

I haven't been out recently, but I'd like to :P. You thinking about diving on the coast this weekend? I'd like to get in the water on Saturday, but I haven't been able to find anyone to dive with yet. Drop me a line if you want to hit the water, especially if it is somewhere close like Newport .

Re: Been to south Hood Canal lately? Observations needed!
Yeah, I mean I can't really argue with the scientific measurements in the water. I will say that, while it is a large amount of animals it is about the normal amount of octos and wolfies I see when visting Sund Rock. Usually a few of each on the North Wall, maybe an octo under the wreck, and a large...

Re: Been to south Hood Canal lately? Observations needed!
I was at Sund Rock for 4 dives on 6/18 and 6/19 and there was no indication of any type of low oxygen event, dive times were 10 PM, 1 AM, 11 AM, and 3 PM. Dives were North wall to the trawler and around South point both day and night. The fish seemed fairly evenly distributed and in their standard d...

The scenery was so nice on the ride I wish I could have taken more pictures topside. I did manage to take one decent shot off the back of the boat with my cell phone. Shows how nice the weather was Saturday.

Re: Cape Lookout Oregon Coast
Hey Blackwater, it was great getting a chance to dive with you. We had a beautiful day on the Oregon Coast, blue skies and fairly light wind. Thanks for putting up your pictures, they turned out great. On further reflection I'm pretty sure that the swarm of life we encountered was the largest school...

Dove off the Oregon Coast on Saturday. Visibility was 20 - 30 feet with blue skies overhead. Needless to say a great time was had by all , I'll to do a writeup on the sea life we came across when I get a chance to look some things up .

Re: has anyone dove the jetty's at cape dissappointment?
We ended up going out on Saturday and had a fantastic day. The weather was amazing, blue skies, and a pretty mellow ocean. Underwater the sea life was thick and the visibility was long. We has 20 to 30 foot visibility all day, and with the bright skies it made for some great diving. When you are che...

Stan,
If it wasn't Mother's Day I would be all over it. As it is I am meeting up with the family, so won't be able to make it out. Hope you have some good dives.

Re: New Diver at the Oregon Coast
Hey Ron :), Yep that is me and my dive buddy Galen :P. We are still trying to work out his heat issues, next stop is a suit heater :P. That was a fun demo day we had, that was the first time I had dove either of those sites and we had some really nice weather after we broke out of the fog. Funny eno...

Re: New Diver at the Oregon Coast
hey scubapug, Welcome to the club to you and your boyfriend :). I live in Corvallis, so about 45 minutes from Newport. I do a fair amount of my diving up in Washington, but I try to make an effort to dive the Oregon coast when I can. I'll drop you a PM next chance I get to come out your way and see ...

May 7th, this Friday may have a window of diving for the Oregon coast. Going to head out of Newport.... I have room for one more experienced diver. AB219, I sent you a PM with my contact information, I am interested coming along on the dive this Friday. Drop me a line if that space is still open :)...

Re: Sechelt area dives (Sunshine Coast, BC)
whatevah, Sounds like a plan. I am very excited for the trip, should be a great time. I will answer as many Oregon diving questions as I can, though I have to admit the bulk of my dives have been up in Washington or on various trips. I've dove a few places around Oregon though 3 Arch Rock, Netarts, ...

He is very lean, but not "skinny". He is 6'3" 190lbs with single digit body fat. He doesn't have a lot of insulation. He also isn't a big sweater, so the exertion level of diving isn't enough to get his bodies heat generation system going. His shoulder issues are from old snowboard an...

Re: Electric Suit Heater Recommendation
He currently uses a Mares Crushed Neoprene suit with a Mares wetsuit hood I believe it is 7mm. He has dry gloves with OR heavyweight fleece liners. For undergarments he has a Waterproof of Sweden poofy suit which he wears sometimes and a DUI Powerstretch fleece that he wears the other times. His bas...
