Yes. Look for the mob. I just decided to hoist a dive flag from my car. Since nobody at cove 1 ever hoists dive flags, you'll know who I am. :-) also look for the Indian guy with the accent. :-)

Random Goofy Fun dive at Cove 1 on Sunday at 9:30am.

Was going to be a minor 2-3 people dive with people who wanted to get back into diving with me. Now we're expecting a turnout of 20-25 people. Join in to make it even more fun. I was going to bring donuts for all, but now that hope is gone - my car won't hold gas/gear for 2-3 divers + donuts for 30....

Sure. Or just hit me up on the weekend or whenever. I usually hate diving, but I'll make an exception. :-D

Re: Wacky Wednesday West – 02/26/14

AJS - I could do an earlier dive than Dive 2. Not strictly Dive 1, but I could be ready to dive at 5pm. You can text/call me at 425-894-5858, or PM me. We can try to make something work.

I'm on Atomics regs now. But I'm interested in learning tank VIP and valve maintenance.

Non-diving training?

As I move up the ranks of dive education, I find a new itch to scratch. I don't know/understand my gear well enough. I want to know how Hydro works exactly. I want to know what a VIP is. I want to learn how to clean/rebuild my regs. I know there are classes/courses for this sort of thing. I would lo...

Re: Computers

I second the thought on the "cheapest computer you can buy". I have seen/used them all. No matter how careful you are, you end up damaging dive gear. I just like not having to worry about replacing a 2000 dollar complex device. As many people said, if you're staying recreational, you need ...

Re: Looking for a buddy (or group I can dive with)

Got tons of tanks and weights. Let's dive together! PM me. There. Are plenty of NWDC groups who dive. Then there's the marker buoy dive club who are incredibly active! Then there's NWUE on facebook.

We have our weekly events too. The Wednesday tweeks.

Re: Wacky Wednesday West (WWW) - 10/9/13

I'm in for 2 and 3. A friend whom I recently met at a party will be there. He's a NAUI-trained diver from the peninsula. He'll probably drop by for some freediving or swimming on the surface, but he's been wanting to get back into a regular community, so I invited him for a meet-and-greet. In case I...

Re: Dive Planning

Thanks for the guidance all. That's precisely what I want to do - learn from experienced divers and make my own plans to compare. At some point I have to learn to make my own current decisions in addition to blindly joining a posted event.

Dive Planning

I know there was mention of a workship a few years ago, but I was not a diver then. I was wondering if there are resources I could read/study or take a weekend crash course on how I would go about planning a dive specifically with regard to currents. What are Tide Tables? What are Current Tables? Ho...

Re: New Diver

The addiction never ends! :-) Welcome! Pretty soon you're going to have to create "non-diver social events" where you ban your dive buddies from showing up because even after 50 years of diving, all they want to talk about is diving, with doe-eyed enthusiasm.

Re: I see a definite down-side to this

As a very recent newbie, I highly endorse dusty's advice, buy once. Almost all gear will last you an entire lifetime and then some. That said, some stuff is more reliable used then others. Regs from a known person - id pick up. Tanks just never go bad if they're in hydro. If you go for a backplate/w...
