Re: Fox Island
Can't say i have a lot of experience at FIEW, but from this website, http://tbone.biol.sc.edu/tide/worldmap.html, slack on Thursday should have been at 1610 at Gibson Pt. (Gibson Pt. looks like it's right at the East Wall).

what a difference a day makes
It's been awhile since I've been out, missed all that great vis we had in Oct. So, Saturday i went out to Redondo and saw pretty much.......shrimp! Sure, there's the gpo's under the boats, the perch and occasional gunnel. But I didn't see my target objectives, the juvi wolfeel and the cockerelli. We...

Re: Titlow - Or Bust!
I've been out at DIW and Titlow on days that seemed 'doable'. There is an time offset from the 'predicted' slack for all sites. But, the offset can also vary depending on the tides and other conditions. People's opinion of that offset time vary from 30 mins to 1hr 15mins. Missing slack at sites like...

I got a lot of good pics from my various Sealife cameras. Their service has always been exceptional. Your description echoes just about every interaction i had with them as well.

Re: Niterider 14 watt hid bulb
I tried to cross reference Raptor's HID bulb for his Niterider but the bulb had no markings on it. He eventually bought one of Richard's LED lights and is very pleased with it.

I dove with Island Divers as well, went out on a morning, then same afternoon charter with them. Would do it again, good operation... They recently had a lost diver and there was a bunch of mud slinging going on over on scubaboard... http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/accidents-incidents/394679-missin...

Just got off the phone with Hobuck resort. The weekend of July 23-24 the WHOLE resort is reserved for some kind of company retreat. Bummer. This impacts my plans for that weekend. There are other places to stay, Snow Creek and Cape Motel and Campground to name a couple. Not sure what i'm going to do...

Hood Canal
took the family camping Sunday up in the Hood where the poison oak and mosquitoes were abundant. on the way back i stopped at Sund rock to do a dive, first in about 5-6 weeks. Vis was great, water was calm, rain was light. a bald eagle flew by while i was stuffing myself into my wetsuit...seems i've...

Re: Diving Long Island on Sunday.
It sure seems like a big exchange for Long Island Wall, but I'd trust the NakNek crew more than my scanty experience with the site..... It was a wonderful dive, but very current-intensive. If they put you on that site, you'll be there at the right time, and have a ball. Yeah, that was my thinking t...

Re: Focus lights - what do you use?
i use the Q40 on my mask strap so i can see my camera controls. i cut a piece of milk carton to fit inside the lens bevel to diffuse it. that may work well for you, it diffuses the light but it's still bright enough to see with and would eliminate the hot spot.

Re: question about thing at dive show
...... Looked like fun to me, but I'm pretty sure I could do the same thing with a piece of plywood and polyrope for like $10. ...... That's exactly what my brothers and I did back in the seventies! We had a couple handles to hang on to that would angle the board down really fast and get deep fast....
