Re: Beach diving?
I camped at Port Orford this summer just for fun. We stayed at Humbug state park and it was fantastic. I wish my wife dove because the water south of the head there was glassy smooth every day we were there. It would have been a great time to dive. We also saw a grey whale crest after spouting that ...

New diver in Oregon
I'm a relatively new diver. I have less than a dozen dives under my belt and I am looking at getting some more. I am down for diving all over Oregon and Washington, I just need some invites in advance (I'm one of those people that has to have something to do on a weekend, no "relaxing" don...

Winter Diving
Being new to the whole diving sport, I was wondering if it was worth diving here in the Pacific Northwest or should I save my vacation and money for a nice, warm spot to dive in the winter? What does everyone else do during the long gray?

Re: Planning a dive on the 31st
Update: My coworker had to cancel due to a family engagement he was unaware of (or trying to get out of? =]) so he had to cancel. I am still down for diving with people on this board. The dive can either be on the 24th or the 31st now. Let me know if anyone else is interested in picking up a new div...

Planning a dive on the 31st
A coworker and I are planning a dive along the Oregon coast on the 31st of July. Any suggestions on where to go? We know that viz will be pretty bad, but it's a chance to get into the water (which is hard for me to do... my entire summer was planned out by April and that's pretty standard for me).

Re: Diving has ruined my fishing career
I totally do not understand the kill for sport thing. I have never understood that... The one thing that I do is to thank the animal (if I have met it before butchering) for giving it's life to help mine persist. I know it didn't give it's life willingly, but I honor the life that was given for min...

Re: Dive Report: Newport Fingers
what did the nudi look like, I have photoed 7 different ones there If I had to stab a guess, I would go with a Opalescent Nudibranch. It was white, had the tendrils off from the back (I didn't count the rows of them) with orange tips to the tendrils. Quite beautiful. And no, that was a typo. They w...

[quote="spatman"] are you a REEF member? i/quote]
I am not a REEF member but I am interested in becoming one. I have been reading up on identification but I know that a formal class would do me good.

Dive Report: Newport Fingers
Last Saturday was a on and off rainy day in Newport. It was the first time that I have dove the fingers but it was a great experience. There were two other groups diving but it wasn't crowded. I was quite pleased with the viz (approx 6 feet) given that it was raining the day before. Being an Oregon ...

If you find an address and a name of who to send those letters to, please let us all know so we can write them too!Beefcake wrote:...I intend to write a few letters in the meantime to see if we can't just keep things the way they have been (and should be) - joint access based on common courtesy.

Re: Tillamook Parks Boat Launch Rules
I just ran across this forum and decided to read a little. I am resurrecting this thread because I would like to shed a little light on this. With my severely limited legal background (took one criminal justice class in college) I know that wording and language are everything when it comes to law. I...
