Re: RAW photos. What is the point?
Other than some major backscatter removal, I'm not sure what PS is going to give you over LR digital processing; you might hold off on that purchase until you really need it, or just figure out GIMP. You might also search around on the web, I believe Adobe has some decent tutorials on using LR which...

Re: I need help with my dry gloves please
+1 on the rubber gloves over the rings. I use the latex gloves (http://www.sitech.se/pages/default_uk.asp?SectionID=3855) with liners and they work great. The liners are thinner polar tech gloves from REI and seem to keep hands warm even if flooded and I find they are warmer than the cheaper wool in...

Re: "It's a desert down there"
Was thinking the same thing on Thursday evening...I could have spent the whole dive around just one of the boats taking shots of all the different small critters.

I think myself and two others were the guys doing the safety stop while you were heading out and I think I got the same pics of the same octos as well. Certainly a nice evening for diving for sure.

Re: RAW photos. What is the point?
Just adding on as a RAW convert, I shot some blue water in jpeg with a new Sony RX100 and did OK on the post processing, although I just couldn't get what I wanted from Light Room on the jpegs, but then when moving to our local green water, I found shooting in RAW really allows some spectacular reco...

Great timing...I just did the data collection yesterday AM for the same DM project! I didn't find the monolith either, but we only got to about 45' feet or so. Looks like you ran into all the stuff we did as well including the commode!

Re: Under the Undergarment?
Normally a Nike short sleeve wicking tee-shirt, then long sleeve UA coldgear under a Whites Thermal Fusion. Forgot the UA last week and was plenty warm, but in the winter, that all seems to work well although I've been tempted to try one of the 4th Element base layers.

Looking to make it down from Redmond as soon as possible after the work thing. I'm new to diving with NWDC so hope to meet some new folks.

Re: Newbie on the steep slope..
I returned from Turks and Caicos where I had a chance to try out the new RX100/ Ike housing/ YS-D1. Since I'm very new to underwater photography, the goal was to just get used to using the camera in a housing with strobe and try some post processing with Lightroom. The photos here on Skydrive were a...

Newbie on the steep slope..
Now I've done it...just received a Sony RX100 with housing/strobe on order (due in tomorrow). I'm fairly at ease with a topside Nikon D5100, but trying to get my fat fingers used to the new camera and housing is going to be an interesting and steep learning curve to adapt to the water! After doing s...
