Re: FS: Stainless Compressor 110 VAC
1 filter in good condition is going to produce OCA or very very close. I agree ... for many compressors. The little MCH6 and the Bauer with the P0 have both proven themselves as good, but not great at filtering. Yes, the air out of a fresh filter is of excellent quality, but it doesn't take long to...

Re: FS: Stainless Compressor 110 VAC
In order to keep costs and weight down on the small compressors, the manufacturers have had to put lighter weight bearings and crank. While they can pump up to 4500 psi, they can't maintain that pressure for a long time without eating themselves up. By pumping smaller cylinders one at a time, the pr...

Re: FS: Stainless Compressor 110 VAC
While I am not a big fan of PP blending, oxygen clean air (OCA) is no big trick. Start off with a compressor that gives grade E or better. The small Coltri is a $3309 machine and the small Bauer is $3811 and either will give Grade E for about 2500 cubic feet of air (they are rated more, but...). Nei...

I just got reminded that this is a 2008 model so the price is actually $200 less ($3840).
Sorry.

FS: Stainless Compressor 110 VAC
Moderator ...I don't know if I am allowed to post this here. If not, pull it. OK ... I screwed up and built a very customized compressor about this time last year for a "friend" without taking a deposit and, of course got stiffed. I need to get this one gone. It is an electric driven 3.2 ...

Re: RIX sweet air six
Why do you say the priority valve on the end of the hose is rigged wrong? It looks like that in the manual. If that is an AE valve, the inlet is at the end where the yoke is installed now ... backwards from how it should be. And the higher the pressure the better. 1800 is the stock pressure that th...

Re: RIX sweet air six
A Priority valve is called for on the outlet of the separator even if you don't put a filter tower. It raises the pressure which raises the density of the air and makes the separator function that much better. As for the moisture eye ... you bet! Those things make inspecting for moisture a LOT easie...

LOL ... thanks. and Wally definitely knows "a huge bank of bottles and an array of valves, filter towers, pipes, gauges and fill hoses."
If you haven't already, you gotta stop by and see Wally's new custom fill wall ... not panel ... WALL!

Re: RIX sweet air six
I can't tell for sure from the picture, but if the priority valve on the end of the hose is AE, then it is rigged wrong and isn't doing anything for you. Right now, the compressor just has a mechanical filter to remove some moisture. Of course, Rix fans will say that is all you need and that the air...

Damn ... that's a shame.
However it is that time of year when dive shops feel the most strain and more close up late winter or early spring than any other time.

I hope they get the name paid for at least. This is when the name sellers and smut peddlers pounce on linked names and make a few bucks off them.

I have some brand new valves that we got out of a tank trade in program. DIN/K convertible generic is $45 and the Genesis is $50 if you are interested.

Re: Port Townsend Dive Shops
I deal with all of them on a professional level and they have all been very professional and friendly with me. Of course, when there are three shops in an area that can barely support one, there is going to be some pretty fierce competition and hard feelings between the fans of each. Just pick who i...

Re: DUI ZIPPY NECK SEAL
When you go to a dive shop to pick up a seal, you will most likely be getting an OS Systems seal since almost every dive shop buys and uses them. They will also most likely have the OS Systems glue as well. I suggest using that as it is heat activated and, should you make a mistake, it isn't permane...

Better Business Bureau. The BBB doesn't care unless the shop is a member and I don't know many that bother to join. It is kind of a dying entity with the internet doing it's reporting job now. Amy is dead on about this one. Call the owner and discuss calmly your problems. Like she said, write down ...

Re: Beuchat 15L steels (2)
I had forgotten about the hydro thing. There were so many screwed up nation wide that all of us Reps were given loaner "spuds" for our dive shop customers that needed them for their customers' hydros. I think in the two years that I had one, it only went to three dive shops. Mine disappear...

Re: Beuchat 15L steels (2)
Make sure you don't let anyone try to spin in standard US treaded valves. A dive shop in Florida did that and had catastrophic results. Beuchat got sued because they didn't have a warning printed on the side saying that metric and US threads were different. That's why they got closed out so cheap in...

Re: I need a singles valve
I may be wrong ( I am a lot lately!), but I seem to remember that valve was made for a limited run steel tank. I have had several customers try to order standard valves to replace, but they just don't fit and I can't find ANYTHING in my various catalogs.
Good hunting!

Re: Blue water filters?
Way back when I worked with Ikelite, we used UR Pro CY filters on ALL cameras ... still or video ... available light or with strobes. They did two things ... made the pictures a little nicer and protected the camera lens from scratches. I had one on the front of my wide angle lens and got beautiful ...

Re: Servicing your own regs
This waiting for weeks thing has me baffled! When my wife had her dive shop she had a one week guarantee. If it wasn't done in that time you got free rentals or half off the service ticket. And it wasn't because she didn't do a lot of service. At one point, her shop was the Western regional "Fa...

Re: Servicing your own regs
Oh boy ...this is going to be a good one! I will start off by answering your questions first without comment. There are formal schools around the world that can teach regulator repair. Costs for those range from $500 to $4500 depending on how thorough. Additionally, most dive shops have their own pe...

Re: Silicone grease question
There really is some validity to the different grease thing. I spent fifteen years working for Ikelite and we had horrendous problems with people using the Nikonos grease on O-rings. Whatever they used to thin their stuff would cause the O-rings to swell terribly! We also had people from the ship co...
