This video was shot on the East Coast, but I couldn't help thinking of the Sturgeon hatcheries along the Columbia River.

Re: Mares acquires SSI
Hmmmm, very interesting, SSI is a good organization. I hope this is a good thing for the Scuba industry. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it is a good thing. Mares is owned by Head and they seem more interested in skis and tennis rackets than dive gear. After Mares acquired Voit, they copied the MR12 II...

Re: Thanks for good weather
Seattle is a great city. I lived there for 3 years and felt safe everywhere I went. I bartended breifly at the Jolly Roger taproom in Ballard and still stay in touch with some of the folks I met there. Nowadays, we have family in Orting, and we spent the night there after Thanksgiving weekend: And y...

Re: Cordell Bank (offshore Northern Cali.)
Sorry for chiming in so late Ross, I should log in more often. That is an awesome video. I used to dive the Northern California coast: Anchor Bay, Russian gulch and a few sites just off 101. One of these days I'd like to drive back through Southern Mendocino county and see how it's changed. But, in ...

I would love one of those for my single outlet double 45s. That would look awesome on some double 45's. Have to say, I'm a bit jealous since there's rarely anything like that up here. Anyway, here's some photos of the reg in cold water. http://vintagedoublehose.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=73...

Keystone State found in Lake Huron
What few pictures have been made public are showing a very intact vessel, which is more likely in the great lakes. Still, not much news available about this: http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/24177312/sunken-keystone-state-found-in-lake-huron Here's a short MSN video: http://msnvideo.msn.com/?channe...

Those are some amazing odds to overcome. Glad they were able to save him.
Reminds me of a Sea Hunt episode where Mike saves two crew members and a dog from a sunken freighter:

Great surface shots. Unfortunately in Sitka, we don't have too many leafy trees, so we kinda miss out on autumn.

Dave when they are available I would definitely appreciate you letting me know as I may miss a update on the board Will do Herb. And you're welcome to the DH collect while I'm out of town. I'm looking forward to this too. My Phoenix has plenty of dives on her. I love my Pheonix HPR. All the reviews...

Re: SITKA 2013 - LET'S POST HERE
Winter time is the best time for good viz. Similar to what you get in Washington. Right now the water is pretty clear, I'd say around 40 - 50 ft. of viz in most places. Of course, we also have less light, so you have to take that into consideration. I would concur that February and March are the bes...

Yeah, like Capt. Jack, that's how the design works. It's also why they're very popular with underwater photographers.Linedog wrote:So would the exhaust be behind your head?

As many of you know, I enjoy restoring and diving vintage gear. One of my favorite regs is a modernized DH reg with a Pheonix 1st stage.(So, not really considered vintage.) Now, the same company that makes the Pheonix, Vintage Double Hose, is also preparing to market and sale a completely new Double...

Re: Any campers out there?
I've combined the two activities in the past, but I've only succeeded in getting a dive in when I was staying at a cabin. Tent camping just incorporated too much gear to add dive gear to the load. Not sure how much room you have in your travel trailer, but I'm guessing you have more space than we ha...

Dusty, You may have an early published account of the recovery. The Sheriff's Department has now confirmed 6 sets of remains and that the discovery was made by a public safety dive team testing a side scan sonar. I have also read, that the older car went missing sometime in the late 50's or early 60...

Happy Belated Birthday Dusty. Here's to another year of peace, prosperity and good diving -
On a side note: I have a friend who dives a semi-dry here all year and likes it. She does get a little chill if we're diving for more than an hour, but her suit is also a little big on her.

Re: Smartphone Time Again. Opinions? Data?
Where are you? Here in Sitka, AT&T is down to a single tower and it's only 3G capable. When the tourist are in town, you can pretty much forget making a call, and text messages are best limited to as few characters as possible. I'm seriously considering switching to ACS, but am worried this will...
