Re: Advice for Cove 2 beginner

For a shallow dive, I like to go out, hit 40', and follow the depth line to the honey bear. Check out the pilings along the way. Especially check out the pilings sticking way up off the bottom, just near the honey bear, they are the best. They are labeled "elated jackstraw pilings" on your...

Re: Thursday at Sund Rock

Hi
I forgot to post this one. Lots of California sea cucumbers were up off their base, with their peltate tentacles sticking out! Any one know what might be going on here? Is this normal?

Thursday at Sund Rock

Hi! ScubaJess and I did four dives at Sund Rock South Wall yesterday. It was fantastic. I've only been to Sund Rock a couple times and I really got to like this place quite a bit during the dives. Lots of cool critters to be found when you move slow. We saw 7 species of nudibranch, tons of squat lob...

Re: Thursday daytime rain diving

Hey Eric - I can't make the Thursday dive but you can borrow my king canopy if you'd like. I'll be in the Microsoft campus/DT Bellevue area all day tomorrow and could bring it with me. Not sure what you're driving now-a-days but the canopy is about 6ft long.... Great! Thank you so much! I work in D...

Good diving!

I only took about 7 pics total, mostly because it was ScubaJess's first night dive. None really turned out.

Hi Here were a few photos from last night: DSC_0012-4.jpg DSC_9744-4.jpg DSC_9880-5.jpg Some of the critter sightings: lumpies (my friend even found a red one), stubbies, snailfish, lots of small octos, another market squid... I even saw 3 lumpies on one blade of kelp! Hope everyone had a great week...

Redondo post-dive eating options

Hi Billy McHale's is no longer an option for post-dive eating at Redondo. Closed down. I know some of you weren't fans, due to lack of selection, but it did have a few good items, and there aren't many options in that area. I did find that there's an El Rinconsito nearby though! This is another loca...

A lumpy from last night. They were quite common in about 15 feet of water on the broad brown kelp. We saw them in them in brown and golden yellow.

Very cool photos Jesse! And, good news! Redondo definitely delivered for us last night! My friend was ecstatic with our finds! Lumpies and stubbies, his main big wants, were in abundance! We also saw market squid, plainfin midshipman, octos, gunnels, snail fish, and pipefish (only the big ones thoug...

Thanks for the report Bob!

Looks like we'll be going out Saturday and Sunday night at Redondo! We may also do some river snorkeling this weekend if we can find a river with a salmon run going. If you're interested in joining that, let me know.

Hi Last year I had a thread about backpacking the Enchantments Lakes area, and several people were interested or had done it in the past. The place is famous for Golden Larches (a conifer that sheds its needles in the fall), beautiful rock formations, and a high concentration of alpine lakes in one ...

Very cool!

Somebody else (I think that works at a local dive shop, can't remember for sure) recently mentioned they saw one out at the straights.
