Re: Local Zipper replacement
Another local source is Hoodsport N Dive. They did my boots to socks conversion and when I was in there, they had a few suits they were doing zipper repairs on for the commercial divers.

Re: I R a tech diver now (or some very intense days with Mel Clark!)
Jeff has it spot on.
Next step up in the IANTD realm is Normoxic Trimix with a 19% 02 limit & 200' depth limit and another 40 dives away (minimum).
Or
Start down the rebreather path, which is at least another year away to save up the jingle.

My biggest fear at this point is affording the helium to do more of these dives.
Next big expenditures will be a scooter and a RB, but those will be aways in the future.

Congrats and welcome to being broke ha ha Thanks and it was waaaay more than I planned on, but worth every forking' penny. Dived with Ben the other day, good guy Yes, love the heck out of Ben, can't wait to dive with him again! Though he is in for more punishment Mel style, he's headed for cave cla...

Re: I R a tech diver now (or some very intense days with Mel Clark!)
Maybe I missed it but how much helium are you "allowed"? I see the analysis tape but is the MOD for that al80 under your arm or? I don't remember a helium allowed limit discussed, just an oxygen minimum, couldn't go below 21%; need to take the Normoxic Trimix class to get to 19% O2 and 20...

Nice job, did you have a NWDC buddy for class or someone from elsewhere? Maybe I missed it but how much helium are you "allowed"? I see the analysis tape but is the MOD for that al80 under your arm or? It was a very eclectic class. At the beginning Etienne was my buddy, then we were joine...

Re: I R a tech diver now (or some very intense days with Mel Clark!)
Congrats on your tech diver status! Though I didn't take mine with Mel, I thoroughly enjoyed it and it definitely made me a better diver for it. Thanks Matt, and thanks for the sale on the AL80, it came in handy during training, they started me out with a single al40, then your single al80 and then...

Re: I R a tech diver now (or some very intense days with Mel Clark!)
Interesting you all went all the way to Crescent instead of using Lake Washington. In all, we dove Muk for the check out & basics dive, then on to Cove 2 for a couple 90'-100' dives, then over to Lake Washington for the 130-140 dives. Lake Crescent was more the relaxed after class play day dives.

I R a tech diver now (or some very intense days with Mel Clark!)
OK, so not really a tech diver, maybe a tech-lite diver is the (IANTD) way to describe it. A few months ago an interesting dive at 97' got me thinking that I should probably start seeking out some more serious training to be more comfortable in the 100' range. Somehow a perfectly timed email got me ...

Re: Weekly NWDC Dives
A couple buddies and I dive Tacoma area almost every Weds night 5:30-ish splash time and lately have started including a second dive splash around 7:00. Most of the time it is Ruston way at Les Davis, Old Town Dock, Dickman Mill or Hyde park, but occasionally the Sunnyside pipeline, Titlow or other ...

Weds 30th Tacoma waterfront was a hazy 10-15' lots of snot floating, but overall wasn't horrible.

Lake Crescent was an amazing 100' or so on Sat and Sun (12th/13th). It was incredible to keep dropping down, seeing the bottom, but taking forever to get there! What's the water temp at Lake Crescent? The coldest my computer logged at Crescent was 47* at 145' on Saturday. The first Thermocline hit ...

Re: bottle fields?
How far out is it from the pilings?
Titlow has a field to the northwest of the pilings.
I've found a couple single bottles out there, but have not seen many.

Re: bottle fields?
You can find some pretty good stuff off Port Townsend in the 40'-50' range, just time the current correctly. I've found bottles, china plates, even an old ink well. 60South is the guy for that area, unfortunately he now resides in Colorado. X3 on the Ruston Way waterfront. We've found quite a few ol...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Did a few new to me dive sites this past week. Cove 2 on Thurs the 10th, viz was awesome! 30'-ish down by the I-beams a bit hazier up shallower. Lake Washington on Fri the 11th, viz was a bit tighter, but still a good 15-20' though It sure was pretty dang dark below 80'! Lake Crescent was an amazing...

I'd be in, but that's a bit north for me.
If anybody wants to do Redondo or Tacoma tonight, post up.
I need to get out and try my new BP&W/doubles setup.
