Re: Whidbey Island Critters

So what does aging really mean? I feel your aches and pains...no I guess those are my own, but if the lifespans are relatively fixed even without aging does this mean without aging we would reach the same ages that we do but without the wrinkles, and then die?

That would not explain why different types have different lifespans, unless the wolf eel like one more than the other!

Question that was not answered is if they don't age, why do they die?

I never remembered to get back to you. I'd trade 100's for 130's but we would have to get together sometime. I'll be flying out of Seattle July 28 if that would work.

Re: too much air!

Mine always drop when I get in the water. I wonder how high they are filling them to before cooling? First really good fill I ever saw at a dive shop! Be better in steels though. I pumped my AL80's about 3500 so they would be a little overfull when they cooled.

I am a holdout wearing a BCD. I like the pockets. I do use a DUI weight harness and they are great. You can tune your trim so well by adjusting it up and down. Much better than ankle weights, shoulder weights, BCD pockets or a weight belt. I still carry a little weight in the BCD to spread it around.

Re: Sheep Boats Of Chelan

The memorial at the dive site on the day 1 video is for a school bus accident in November 1945. A young soldier, just returned from WWII was driving a school bus full of young children on an icy morning towards Chelan when he lost control and went over the edge. The accident killed nearly every chi...

Re: Thoughts about this? (hood canal/the knuckle)

They didn't seem too happy with VRBO in the meeting. I've spent a lot of money in Hoodsport while staying at VRBO places. My guess is they are starting with the obvious easy target and then will continue with people renting out their homes. You have to keep the rifraff out or the neighborhood goes t...

I started to answer that he was wrong on this but remember he is saying "pound for pound" If a fat person weighs 150 lb and a fit athlete weighs 150 lb the fat guy uses less O2. I kind of think that is right.

Re: Advice needed for Weight Training for Scuba

Good post Laura. And thanks for chiming in Bob! That would be what I would expect. A gain, but not a big gain. Comfort in the water along with all the things that come with experience such as trim is the big gun in the SAC game. And Laura hits it just right. Bring enough gas. I also see people get i...

Re: Advice needed for Weight Training for Scuba

I have already said that weighing less and being in good condition SHOULD improve SAC, my impressions watching other divers lead me to believe there are other things that are much more important. We need a guinea pig. Should be a very experienced diver so they are not improving their air consumption...

Re: Advice needed for Weight Training for Scuba

I really don't disagree with you Lamont. Fitter is better in an individual. It's just that fitter doesn't have much correlation with SAC or with being able to get your gear to the water and back. That has a lot more to do with experience, comfort and diving ability than with body mass index and abil...
