Thanks.
It might not be the tropics, but it looks a little bit like coral :

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
This critter is from last summer, as you can see by the Bull kelp which just now begins to grow up again at Keystone. I was going through some old files and found the shots of anemone larva feeding on its host jelly, so I decided to share it with you, since many of you come across these two antagoni...

Re: Diving with a local artist and legend
We also got to dive with him this past week, and what a privilege it was. We will definitely be back! Dave, the pleasure was mutual. I am glad that you all enjoyed visit to our island. You see, even our egg guarding Lingcod are nicer to visiting divers the their southern cousin  http://i103....

There seems to be some disagreement about the benefit of the split fin design.

You guys sure know how to make an old man blush. Believe me, I was not trying to avoid you... I hope you make it to Whidbey soon, although I still don't understand why all that fuss. Curtis, thank you for the company and the video.

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
When I arrived at the scene, the cleaner Scalyhead was not interested in being photographed and settled nearby, waiting for me to leave. The Lingcod, while guarding two egg masses under its body kept his mouth wide open. Unfortunately, it was nesting between the rocks of the jetty, so I could not ge...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
This Lingcod male was little frazzled, keeping Sunflower stars, Striped perch and other Lingcod off his four egg masses. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m147/Honza-01/21010LingeggaS.jpg It must be a lonely life for the juvenile Yelloweye rockfish. I never seen more then one fish at any given loca...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
The Lingcod egg season is to a slow start at Langley Tire Reef. In past years we had over ten different egg masses, now only three. Maybe El Nino is to blame, hopefully it is just postponed ... http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m147/Honza-01/11510Ling2eggsS.jpg http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m1...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
We revisited the Sculpin Rock, a glacial erratic resting on the sandy bottom in Saratoga Passage off Whidbey Island. Not as many egg nests as last year, but it might be still early. Not the best photos, but I outlined some of the sculpins, for they are so well camouflaged that they don't show well o...
