Re: Viz Reports Thread
3 Tree yesterday afternoon on the last bit of flood was 20 ft or so and pretty clear. I came up at the end of the dive to a double rainbow also!

3 Tree tomorrow afternoon 9/17/19
I’ll be in Burien tomorrow afternoon for work, and I’m hoping to head down to 3 Tree when I’m done around 3 or 4 to empty a tank and look for weird small things to take pictures of. If anybody is looking to get a dive in let me know.

Re: Truth Aquatics Conception Boat Fire Tragedy
Well shit. They are slowly releasing names of the victims, and a friend from my first trip to Hornby Island Diving was on the boat. She also joined Anacortes Diving on a couple trips. RIP Marybeth, sorry that I never made it down to dive with you :(

Re: Victoria, BC Race Rocks Away Mission
What an amazing weekend!!! I still can't believe I was lucky enough to join in :luv: You guys were all so much fun to dive and hang out with. I can't wait to get back up there and spend more time exploring. I picked up a new Olympus TG6 camera days before the trip, and other then taking a couple ran...

That was really really really nice to watch! Great editing and shooting. I just got a TG6 today so I might be asking you for some tips in the future!

Planning is never for naught if you learn something from it that you can apply in the future! Have fun in Monterrey. You should still plan a trip up north sooner or later. We are coming up on the best months of the year for being underwater!

Re: Water Temperatures Past 45 Months
Nice! My wife doesn't currently believe me that the water temperature fluctuates more than 1 or 2 degrees. I'll have to show here this (in a nice way of course!). Are these average or lowest temperatures per dive? I'm not sure how the shearwater records temps, but my oceanic computer saves the colde...

Re: Keystone 8/11 -- dive 700 for scuba jess!
Nice work Jess! Sad that I missed out on a fun dive adventure. Keystone is so good right now! Where did all the love go for the pilings? There's plenty to like 10 ft above the bottom, and the 1000 buffalo sculpin swimming around right now are highly entertaining, especially the males who thin...

Re: Sea star die-off
Diving between the T Dock and old fuel pier location in Mulkiteo today we saw lots of wasting mottled stars. I didn't even try to count but I’d put the number well over 50. I haven’t seen this anywhere else recently so hopefully it’s just an isolated location?

Re: Howe Sound in early September
I was out on the Sea Dragon yesterday, and even with the larger tide exchange the vis was great at depth. Once you got below 20 ft it opened up to 30+ vis at times. You guys won't have any problems. I'm going to guess that Whytecliff shore diving would have been the same. Have fun, and let us know h...

I found Keith’s website a few years ago and it is an awesome resource for not only critters but for also dive sites and planning! I still regularly look at it to read about the San Juan and Neah sites that I want to visit someday if I ever get (a friend with) a boat. I just picked up Greg Jensen’s n...

Re: Viz Reports Thread
Keystone on Friday 7/26 after work was a little dirty but still 15 to 20 ft at depth. The shallows and pilings were very nice with the sun streaming down and schools of fish swimming around. Probably the nicest conditions I've seen out there all year!

Re: Drysuit repair
See? I would have never known about that. I'll try that method before I take it to a shop. I patched a decent sized tear in my old crushed neoprene drysuit myself and it was quite easy. The tear was in the crotch which sees a lot of movement and it never failed on me. I used a suit patch with aquas...

Re: Howe Sound in early September
I agree with Yelloweye! The vis should definitely be improving and the water will be nice and comfortable. If the vis is still mediocre you will still probably be able to go deeper and have it clear up at Whytecliffe and on the Sea Dragon. Porteau is shallower and farther up the sound so the vis cou...

Eugene- anything still left? I’m not the original poster or trying to hijack his thread (sorry!) but I have an entry level drysuit needing new seals, a nice jacket style bc and decent fins that I have been considering trying to sell. If nobody gets back to you send me a pm if any of those things ar...

Love the warbonnet almost all the way out of hiding! I had the same problem Sunday with the late slack in Anacortes, but it was still nice. Cool grunt sculpin also.

Skyline Candy, 7/7/19
On Sunday morning my friend Cara and I got up early for a dive at Skyline. Thanks to the fun summer tides, the slack was ridiculously late (45 min?) so we spent most of the dive hanging on pretending we were at Deception Pass. We probably should have just surfaced and hung out in the rocks for awhil...

Very cool! I don't think I've seen those jellies before. And to see the warbonnets and yelloweyes and abalone amongst the others is also very cool! That snake island overhang is awesome, isn't it? What size were the sunflowers? The overhang was pretty incredible. The vis was well over 30 ft and I e...

I will take them off your hands if you can wait for me to get down to Ballard! I live in Bellingham but I'm down in the Seattle area for work during the day usually a few times a week. I could also try and get down this weekend and use it as an excuse to get a dive in! PM me if that will work. Ross

Memorial Day Weekend Nanaimo Adventure
My friend Matt and I spent memorial day weekend in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. We booked a room at the Buccaneer Lodge and Saturday/Sunday charters with Sundown Diving. We had originally planned on diving the wrecks for day 1, but the wind and rain had picked up and the boat was unable to make it o...

What is this little guy?
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48176737506_c70e53a668_c.jpg I saw a couple of these little guys over memorial day weekend in the shallows at Madrona Wall on Vancouver Island. I am thinking it is some sort of very juvenile gunnel or prickleback, but I really have no idea. It was about the size ...
