Thought I would share this with you.
It doesn't happen to often but every once and a while the Hood Canal will get some ice on it.
Here is a short vid.

Re: Small fish in Lingcods mouth?
What area and how deep?
The ling I seen was on the east to south-east side about 80ft down.
It was 50-75 feet away from the main wall sitting out in the open.

Re: Yelloweye at Sund Rock
The Yelloweye is making a good comeback in the Canal. I have seen quite a few in the last year. Most are juveniles but a few nice one's also. I think you see more the further north you go. On a dive I did at Rosie's I counted 4 on one dive. They were in that 110-140ft range. I have seen a few though ...

For what used tanks are going for have you thought of buying new?
It doesn't seem like you save much and when you factor in time and gas to drive to get them.

Re: Getting started on boat dives.
Like Bob said there are a number of good charters in the area. If you never have dove off a boat i would advise taking a charter for your first one. The one ran out in the Hood Canal would make a good 1st boat dive. Sites like the Pinnacle and Pulali West would be perfect. Once you know your comfort...

Re: Commercial dive supervisor job
IT's not even $29.08 an hour more like $26.04
current pay $4513 month x 12 months = $54156 a year
40 hours a week x 52 weeks = 2080 hours a year
$54156 divided by 2080 = $26.04 an hour

Re: Non current sensitive "off the beaten path" dive sites?
I am actually surprised you have a hard time filling it. Dont people normally jump on the opportunity to go boat diving, or have I been mistaken all along? I can only find someone 40-50% of the time even with a week notice. Most of the time it's one of the guys that I have dove with before. I like ...

Re: Non current sensitive "off the beaten path" dive sites?
Are you limiting yourself to shore dives only? If not there are plenty of sites by boat. Like CaptnJack said most of the Hood Canal. Up in Discovery Bay you have Ed's Fault. The KVI tower is pretty good too. There are a few other down in the south sound but I have never dove them. If you don't have ...

Re: Hood Canal monday Dec.31
This was a rare Monday off for me( because of New Years ).
My next Monday off will be Memorial Day(unless I loose my job)
If any one wants to do a later in the day dive I'm open for that.
all I need is an hour notice.

China Wall\Blakely rock
Made it out today to China Wall\ Blakely Rock with Macdiver. The top of the wall( big rocks) starts at 65ft and the bottom is about 100ft. It is full of large cracks and small caves. I counted 5 GPO's that were huge. They we all in there dens but from what I could tell they were in the 10-15ft range...

Hood Canal
Pulali East Wall 10-15ft(even deep )
and The Pinnacle 10-25ft depending on depth and area.
with all the storms and runoff its just kind of murky.

Re: GoPro Hero3
I just bought one 2 weeks ago and love it. only 3 dives so far but it works great. I used the head mount. The only bad thing is you can't tell your wearing it. So I need to rig up a safety strap . There are 3 variations of the hero 3 White ,Silver and Black. From what I read the White is a old Hero ...

Re: McCurdy Point
It was just a thought since most of the structure is in 30-70ft range. I figured there might only be a few days a year that the conditions would be right. A live boat would be a must and it would probably be a one and done dive. Even when the tides and currents would be good the wind and waves could...

McCurdy Point
On my way out to Discovery Bay yesterday we went by McCurdy point. Its half way from Point Wilson to Discovery Bay. I was wondering if anyone has dove there? I have fished off there a few times but never dove it. I do realize it would be a very current sensitive site and only could be dove at slack ...
