Re: Diamond Knot Charters?
I'm pretty sure he can't board passengers in the US unfortunately. So you'd have to go all the way to Victoria to come back across the Strait. That reminds me of a very funny dive story. We try to dive the Diamond Knot once a year when there are good tides in the summer (I think Jeff has 50+ dives ...

There is always room for both of you on my boat! Maybe I'll actually get to keep that "take you diving" promise that I made SO long ago.

If ya got a boat and can bring it please chime in. Boyd? NWBrewer? 4ster? ScottC? Bueller? Hi Richard, We are going to try and bring the Dive Bum if the weather is good. I'll have a better idea on how many people we can take when we get closer to the date (2-4). The stand-up head and big diesel hea...

M/V Speeder? Excellent work! It was in fact the Saint Speeder that is now sitting on the bottom of Reid Harbor on Stuart Island in the San Juan Islands. This wreck is also known as the Reid Harbor Wreck. http://www.boydski.com/diving/photos/wrecks/America/Speeder_1921.jpg Citycatred, you're up!

Re: The return of SCUBA trivia!!!
Thanks Curt, we do need to get together one of these days (maybe in the San Juan's). Keeping with Curt's San Juan Islands Wreck Diving theme, I'll start with a passenger vessel that was built in Seattle in 1908. At the time she was built, she was billed as the fastest passenger vessel in the world. ...

That one is much easier. The ship was the bark rigged America, towed by the Steamer Lorne.
The figurehead from the ship can still be seen at the Rosario Resort.

No more guesses? How about a hint:
This particular species of shark is related to, but not the same as my answer above.
That should make it easier.

Nice job Scott :) Now you throw out a question! Hmmmmm, Trivia? OK, here is the next dive trivia question. Re: Transfil whip
Like Lynne and Camerone, I use my transfill whip all the time. It lives on the boat and is most often used when we find something cool (imagine that) and someone on the boat doesn't quite have enough left over gas to dive it. We keep HP120(s) in the tank locker just for topping off low tanks (or som...

Re: Shutoff drill with a camera
I just have these horrible visions of being on a wall, fumbling the camera, and watching it go bye-bye. During a deco stop on the Al-ind-esk-a-sea I saw a very expensive looking light & motion video housing heading for the depths. It had been dropped by someone well above us on the line and the...

Re: Shutoff drill with a camera
Like, how would you do them? Also, what would be the best way to deal with a camera along with all the other gear you need? My Camera/Housing is quite negative so I'll often clip the camera off while doing gas switches or drills (or just set it down on a wreck/rock). For deco, I usually clip the ca...

For use on the net 72 dpi is good enough . Hi Jackie, DPI is only relevent if you are printing images (dots per inch). Monitors display images simply based on on the number of pixels. For web use from Lightroom, you should be able to export the images at a reduced or cropped size such as 800 x 600 ...

But at that weight, Dodge diesel all the way. Did a toe to toe 'race' over Snoqualmie pass with chevy/dodge, both diesels, and very similar tongue weight and the dodge walked all over me. +1 on the Dodge Cummins Diesel if you're towing that much weight. I would suggest disassembling the valve and inspecting the plug (2,3) and stem (8). If the stem is not seated well on top of the valve plug (i.e. not aligned correctly), it may behave as described. Re-build the valve with new parts (readily available) if they are worn/damaged. http://cdn.divegearexp...

the Alaska reefer and the barge. can you still access them or does it lie in the restricted area. I don't see why you couldn't. I'd enter the water from the very south end of the "beach" at Solo point and swim NorthWest.
I don't remember the depth, but it is probably 35' or so?

Has anyone ever dove solo point . There is an old Fish & Wildlife "Fish Haven" due west from the ramp at Solo Point. It consists of the usual rock, concrete and rubble they used to drop as fish habitat. It's a decent dive, but you do have to watch out for boat traffic from the ramp. T...

It's about 3/4 mile+ each way from where they put in at Tramp Harbor to the KVI buoy. I don't know what the capacity of a Sierra is, so am not sure if it is up to hauling a cold water diver about 2 miles round trip?

Is that an old Skagit? We used to waterski from a pink one when I was a kid. We'd ski until we ran out of gas, then use the waterskis to paddle the boat back to the ramp. If the boat has cable steering, be sure to inspect the cables and pulley's for wear. One of the more common points of failure in ...
