Re: EDIT feature turned off??

If you can, please also make it available for Dive Site listings. I was going to update a few of my Dive Site posts the other day but couldn't.

Re: Diving the Sunken Hood Canal Bridge

Great video! Looks like you caught it on slack, most excellent planning.

Isn't that the most awesome dive?! We love it, but it's really difficult to nail the currents right. Having a scooter is a good idea.

Re: Great White Shark at Ocean Shores

Strange that the shark went to all the trouble to catch the seal and bite its tail off, but then didn't finish eating it.

I'm worried about the shark. Maybe it's not feeling well? Poor guy.

Now if it could just prevent caisson disease...

Re: Bill Restricting Access to WA Rivers and Shorelines

Thank you Laura.

Agreed on all counts. I sympathize with landowners who are dealing with such nuisances, but IMO it's better dealt with as a local issue rather than state-wide legislation.

Bill Restricting Access to WA Rivers and Shorelines

Just read this with some alarm:

Seems like that might impact some dive locations, too.

Re: Cancun Diving

I've dove Cancun, it wasn't too exciting compared to Cozumel. (But if you've never dove in clear, warm, tropical waters before, it will seem like nirvana). If you have time, Cozumel can be done as a long day trip -- and IMO, it's worth it. You should probably consult schedules and book ahead to get ...

Really?

I can put on a 3mm wetsuit in under a minute. And pee copiously during the dive. I kinda like that. :toimonster: :)

Good diving with you again! (For NWDC folks who don't know me, I'm the Glenn that Dusty mentions)

I ACTUALLY SAW DUSTY GO DIVING WITHOUT A CAMERA! And hell did not freeze over... must be a glitch somewhere.

Re: Why are all dive skins one piece?

Bought one years ago for a trip to Mexico. (Thought the same thing you did, that it might be easier to put on a wetsuit, and offer a bit more insulation.) Wore it once, maybe twice. Ugh. It was more of a hassle than anything; it stretched too much, bunched-up, and I did get chilled. And I definitely...

WTB: Dry Hood One-Way Vent

I have a dry suit with an integrated dry hood, and I'd like to install a one-way valve on the hood to vent excess air. However, I can't find one offered anywhere.

Does anyone know of a source for these?

90 cu ft doubles?

Okay, my scuba knowledge is failing me. Here's a Craigslist ad (local to where I am, at the moment) where someone is selling double steel 90's. 90's? Really? What are those, LP 85's with a plus rating? I'm sure somebody here will know... http://boulder.craigslist.org/spo/4733939806.html Any thoughts...

Re: Get out and dive!

We've had 25-30 ft vis at Norrander's Reef and Point Hudson. 30ft at Norrander's makes a huge difference, it's a whole different (better!) dive.

The best times seem to be just after a flood tide (high tide).

Re: Singles Wing Configuration Discussion

I'll put in a quick plug for the Oxycheq 40# Mach V Extreme wing. It's super tough and has worked well with the heavy HP steel 130+pony configuration that I often use. It also has an integrated STA, keeping the tank close to the backplate. Golem Gear and Cave Adventurers sell these. I already own a ...

Re: A stranger for a buddy

basically, I'd like some advice about what you do when buddying with a stranger for a dive. Do you have any methods for evaluating their abilities? And, perhaps a way to decline partnering with them? And, at what point do you feel you are responsible for someone else's safety? Like Scubie Doo says,...

Re: #$@^%^!ing allergies

Let's commiserate. I too am having bad allergies this summer. Usually it lasts for a couple weeks during the spring, but this year... yeesh! It's been constant. I use Loratadine when I get too exasperated by it. A saline nasal spray also helps clean things out temporarily-- it's cheap and effective....

Re: why? Summer low-low tides near noon, winter near midnigh

[Good question!] Just a guess... It's probably related to the axial tilt of the Earth. The northern hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun in the summer and away from it in the winter. The tilt puts us more in-line with the ecliptic (our rotational plane around the Sun) at noonish in the summer and mi...

Re: Epi-Pen in a Wetsuit?

Assuming the OP was stung while on a dive, how long does it take for a life-threatening reaction to occur?

I'm wondering if there would always be enough time to get to the surface and take care of the problem there, keeping the epi-pen in the car.
