Horseshoe Crab

Post by RVbldr »

So a couple of were diving just southeast of Duwamish Head on Saturday, and coming back up the slope at about 120’, found a large horseshoe crab shell. We didn’t stop to investigate, but it didn’t have a tail spike, so figured it was just a shell. Like the proverbial transplanted lobsters, would that have been an aquarium escapee? Never heard of one in the northwest.

Interesting. Could it have been a mermaid's purse?

Over the years I've found tropical conch shells and other similar items. I suspect some people dispose of old shell collections etc. by tossing them in the sound, figuring they're recycling the materials or something
