A couple of weeks ago, one of our instructors, Scott had all his regulators, computers, lights, camera and even his thermals stolen out of his truck, in front of his house. It has been a tough year for him because he has been unemployed. Luckily, his insurance would cover his stuff, but only to a point. He was really bummed.
Nate Savage, a diver found his equipment. He posted on Craigs List that he had found it. Scott contacted him and has recovered his equipment. They are meeting today to reunite the equipment with its owner. Scott is very excited, happy and relieved!
I just want to thank Nate, publicly, for coming forward and returning his stuff. It seems like all we hear about is the bad stuff that is happening in the world. It is good to hear there are a lot of good guys out there. Merry Christmas, and bless you!!!
A very big THANK YOU to Nate Savage

Re: A very big THANK YOU to Nate Savage
It's strange that someone stole all of his gear and then just left it somewhere for a good samaritan to find.
I'm glad that he got everything back, regardless.
Happy Holidays!

My guess is that the thieves didn't know what they were stealing, and then just dumped it because they didn't know what it was. Scott needs to check everything to see what is working or not, he is afraid his light might be fried. He will be meeting up with Nate later today to get his stuff back.cardiver wrote:It's strange that someone stole all of his gear and then just left it somewhere for a good samaritan to find.

Re: A very big THANK YOU to Nate Savage
Fabulous news.. Thanks for sharing it.
I was surprised at the Craig's List post... 2 bags of dive gear FOUND..
Couldn't imagine a diver just leaving his bags of gear behind.
1 or 2 items... that I understand.
Happy to learn that good guys still exist and sometimes triumph over the bad guys.

Just a quick statistic for you all... this was shared with us during the Academy, and I have no idea of where it's from or whether it's even accurate, but it always comes to mind when I hear something like "there are still a few good people left..."
95% of people obey the law, appreciate the police, will try to help others, and are generally interested in a harmonious life as part of a community. The squeaky 5% wheels get all the grease, but the majority of the people you meet every day are pretty good folks.
I'm glad to hear he's getting his gear back - what a relief. That's good Christmas karma right there.
