Lost UWATEC smart pro dive computer

Post by gmdollar »

Diving at the T Dock today (March 6) my UWATEC smart pro dive computer ran away from home. If found please give warm milk and cookies, tell it all is forgiven and drop me a line.

Thank you,

Jerry

Hey Jerry, Good to see you here on the board sorry its under such unfortunate circumstances. I was down there this morning too but with the vis like it was in the shallows i would be surprised if anyone found it. How shallow were you when you lost it? if you were below the tide line chances are good it will turn up. If it ends up on the beach at low tide it may get picked up by a non diver.
I do have opinions of my own,,,very strong opinions!,, I just don't allways agree with them.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

I left mine in the parking lot and it came back! It was a little worse for wear, as it had been run over by a truck.

I hope you have better luck.

Yip, I'm with you Dusty.
Its one of the thing I love about the dive community.
They take care of each other.

Magoi could have had himself a new backup computer at zero cost.
But he cares more for someone else's loss than his/her own gain.

Nice job Magoi

Yes a big thanks to Magoi. I doubted that the computer would ever be seen again but I never doubted that if a diver found it I would get it back. It is great to belong to to the diving community. Where else can you find people you would actually trust with your life?

The errant dive computer is back none the worse for wear. I would like to thank Magoi for finding it and getting it back to me. I would also like to thank the whole dive club for their efforts.

For the record, the computer made a 6140 minute (4 days, 6 hours and 20 minutes) solo dive to a maximum depth of 15 feet. It apparently went off on it's own at about 7 feet. The battery still has 93% of it's capacity.

Just out of curiosity - was 4 1/2 days at 15 ft enough to build up a deco obligation?

No Deco obligation was incurred. Tthe max depth was 15 feet at high tide but at low tide is was only 6 feet. Addidtionaly the computer was set for 32% Nitrox which gives an EAD of 4 feet at 15 feet (high tide) and an EAD of negative 3 feet at 6 feet (low tide). Love that Nitrox.

A final follow-up on that lost computer that Magoi found for me. When I got to Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea with my recently returned backup computer I met a very nice, very sad lady who had a very dead computer. Thanks to the fact that my computer had been found and returned to me she was able to use it and you might say Magoi saved her trip.

Thanks to all,

Jerry
