Just my own personal experience.... take it or leave it.....
I bought a brand new set of HP100's when I was doing boat cleaning.... in an effort to minimize how many tanks I had to take with me and limit the number of tank changes I did in a day I would jack my tanks to 4000 every evening and top them again in the am.. I would enter the water with at least 3900.
5 years later both tanks failed hydro.
I have 2 other HP100's that I've never filled over 3800 and I typically enter the water with 3500 +/- 100psi, they are now on their 3rd hydro.
Ripper of drysuits, mocker of divers...there are no atheist divers in a mistimed Deception Pass dive. Jeremy

That's a killer for your regs... I guess I'm spoiled when I can get 6 or 7 dives on a hp23.

Hell, I can't do that on mine. 3 is average, but most of my dives are deep-ish. 6 or 7? 02 and dil?

It only takes being checked by the DOT one time. They are allowed to fine up to $10,000 per instance. So the business that is generated by over filling is not worth it. If you want more air buy a bigger tank. Or buy your own compressor. As far as FL goes not every place over fills. Very common in cave country but not so much at the beach. If you know the shop sure but if you are a stranger not as common. Of course not that uncommon to have tanks not pass hydro either. I had 2 faber 95LPs fail first run through from over filling in FL.
