Lost Gear Recovered in Lake Washington..

Post by kdupreez »

We recovered a complete recreational scuba set of equipment from the bottom of Lake Washington last weekend...

It was complete with sinlge al80 tank, bcd, regs and weights.. LOTS and LOTS of weights.. (no surprise that it ended up on the bottom..)

Scared the sh1t out of us, dropping on the Harpoon with a GUE Tec 1 class and seeing a "dead body in the mud".. then realizing its just a fully assembled set of gear..

Anyhow.. If you or someone you know lost a complete set of dive kit on the wreck of the Harpoon in the last few months, ping me..

Describe what tag you had clipped on your BCD D-Ring and what type of Pressure gauge you had and its yours..

If its not claimed in 30-60 days, it will be given away..

Maybe somebody was "sleeping with the fishes" and suddenly woke up.

Could it have been dumped there from a partner / spouse that was trying to impress on their family diver that there was too much diving happening?

But probably off a boat that had a unsecured load.

If not for the reel I'd say it looks like a shop rental setup... Koos, if no one claims it I'll take it off your hands. I have some new divers looking for setups and this could be a nice set to start them with (after it's serviced to ensure safety).

not surprising, the owner is not a member here or is too embarrassed to come forward.

If the owner is a member here, remember, shit happens and better to learn from it and pass along that knowledge to other divers (no matter why it happened).

Add it to the PIF Box if they don't claim it for awhile.

it had an UWS viz decal on the tank, so its local or rental tank.

Ahhh the old we deserve to learn from your mistakes meme.

I've had gear fall out of the boat before. You want a blow by blow account of my incident?

If I'm not mistaken, the Harpoon is in 140 fsw of water... and that looks extremely recreational.
What depth did you find it at? Was the air on? If so, anything left in the tank?

Hopefully, it fell off a boat and not off someone who was narc'd...

The Harpoon is 138ft to the top of the mud. "The bottom" is deeper. Not sure how much deeper, as the mud is soft...
