Three Tree update

Hello Jeff,
This is the latest update…

The beach access may possibly be reinstated temporarily…in mid-March. It will not open and close on a daily basis. The plan is to open it (if we can) for a period of a few weeks and then close it completely to finish it after we receive the equipment. It is possible that it may temporarily open mid-march.

On the other hand, if we receive the missing equipment before it has a chance to temporarily open-it will remain closed to completely finish the project. That possible target date would put it into early April for project completion.

Beach access opens starting March 25th on a temporary basis. It will close briefly toward the end of April for final work.

I dove Three Tree early this morning (7am). Perhaps first divers on the site since it reopened? Some things of note:

There's only 1 parking spot currently. There's room for a second, but there's a giant pile of dirt there. But there's space just south of the "don't park south of here" sign. The garage it's protecting is being blocked by equipment, so we had the other person park there today. Otherwise, it's drop off your gear and go park on the main road as it normally is.

Currently all of the boats that are normally moored off of the buoys are gone. Not sure if they will be putting them back in once the weather gets nicer, though.

Walking down the hill to the shore is definitely easier than it was previously. New packed gravel and such. However, there is only a very narrow path to stay on the public access, which is currently blocked by a tree. You have to climb over the tree or go past the sign saying it's a private beach to go around it.

Not a whole lot of life right now there. Didn't see any nudis, no ratfish, etc. Mostly just kelp crab, hermit crabs, and 1 octo under the speedboat. The octo was pretty huge, though. Easily the biggest I've seen here in the sound so far.

As of June 7th I arrived to find them still working on the site. Here are a few pics I took. Looks like they are finishing up or at least hope so. They were over by the mail boxes doing some kind of work. Look to me like they were going to bore into the ground, but not sure. The walk down looks very nicely redone. Wide, smooth and compacted.

Jeff, do they still have to pave the parking area?

No they look to be almost done. there is a large ventilation piece that needs to be installed, but other then that it looks done.
