Diving as lockdown phases out

Post by derekcs »

Reading through the Times' writeup of the phased easing of restrictions and was wondering about the logistics of getting back in the water.

Are dive shops planning to do curbside dropoff/pickup of tanks for filling?

Does anybody have any idea how people are going to coordinate to avoid overcrowding a dive site?

I’ve been diving this entire time. Tacoma lighthouse is filling tanks. And I have been going at odd times, diving solo, and unannounced in order to avoid “crowding” the dive site.

Octopus Gardens in PT has been filling tanks, but hours are irregular and calling-ahead is generally required; the shop is closed, but tanks can be dropped off and picked up out back.

Point Hudson was empty today -- very good to get in the water!

Have you driven past a Walmart or Home Depot? Divers will never be an issue to this problem.. Go diving today, tomorrow and next week. We could have a giant dive party at X-beach and have no negative impact compared to one walmart!!!! Go dive!!!

As an addition to the fray: https://wdfw.wa.gov/about/covid-19-updates

Fishing opens tomorrow. Get ready for the circus of crowds, closures, and tangles with enforcement.
