Tell me about WSA???

Post by Pez7378 »

I think I joined the WSA once. Maybe twice. What do I get for my membership. How do I know I joined? Am I an Ally or not? Is there a newsletter? A mailer? Email? T-shirt? What? How do I know I am a bonafide member of the Washington Scuba Alliance. How do I know when there are meetings, or events, or State Capitol Invasions? How do I know when I need to contact my Legislator, or write the Governor? How do I get on board with the ships to reefs project? How can I volunteer? Is someone just using my name and information to show some politician, to say "see! Mr. Lopez is a member too."? I've visited the Website once. :smt024 Is that what I should do? go there periodically and call one of the numbers?

Who do I learn the Secret Hand Shake from? :dontknow:

WSA Info

If you were to link here;

http://access.wa.gov/agency/agency.aspx

you could read a lot about what State Government agencies are available.

Scroll down to "Puget Sound Partnership" and read about habitat restoration and stuff like that.

There is information about invasive species, about salmon, about toxic clean up, about water quality issues....all sorts of stuff.

It'll make your head spin.

If you were to link here by comparison;

http://seattle.gov/html/citizen/boardsportal.htm

You will get a list of "Boards" that are available that contribute to policy scope and definition for the City of Seattle.

Washington SCUBA Alliance is more like one of those contributors that tries to influence policy, in this case...for divers.

A travel through this link in the Natural Resources section provides a huge amount of information. There are guidelines established for submittals of projects for habitat restoration and habitat building.

Most of them so far are for streams and things like that, but building a small marine reef sounds like it would fit in. They actively encourage particpation and partnership building.
