Graf Zeppelin Video Footage

Post by BDub »

AG and some European divers did 20 dives on the Graf Zeppelin last month.

The Graf Zeppelin was Germany's only aircraft carrier during WWII. She was sunk off the coast of Poland by the Russians in 1947, in 260'.

A great article on the history of the ship, as well as the logistics in planning this kind of dive (I want that boat!) can be found here. Not sure if you have to be a member to view it or not. If so, membership is free.

The divers got a lot of still and video footage, but they had to wait for the Polish Government to approve the footage before they posted it. They were given permission a few days ago and posted it here.

Some great footage, and what an awesome project to be a part of!

Great footage. I'm so jealous- I want to do that dive, bad! I mean....I want to have a bad dive on it...no, wait.....I want to dive it poorly.......no, wait........I want to dive it.

Yeah. That's it.

I only found out about the existence of that ship this year! Wikipedia has a nice write up about it too. I would love to go dive that! Pretty amazing history. They actually laid down two of the keels but one was aborted earlier on.
